Who do these kids belong to?

May. 22, 2012

the battle begins

developing a strategy

I know this may seem a little weird posting pictures of some kids  I don’t even know, but they are hilarious and made us laugh so much I had to share.   Sunday after church, the girls and I all went to Fashion Island with my parents for lunch.  We can never decide on one place to eat so we have come up with a new plan.  Mom, TT and I order lunch from pdm, to go, and then take it to the atrium and get a big table and everyone else picks food from Atrium court.  So yesterday during lunch these 3 boys show up with their light sabers and start dueling right in the center next to the fountain.  They were very serious and having a blast because there parents never looked at them once.  They started running between the tables with their sabers aimed and charging and yet no one said anything.  I mean can you imaging being a 3 year boy and being able to run the whole atrium court while dueling with your brother and a friend.  Serious heaven.  Each time they flew by our table, my mom would yell, “duck” and then we would all hysterically start laughing.  Their parents were seated right next to us never once lifted their heads or stop talking.  It was so fascinating, we then started taking pictures and videoing the boys fighting and still they never looked at us.  Then another little boy came into the picture but he was only about 18 months old, so his grandma was terrified to let him loose by the hooligans, so she kept following him with a fist full of food.  The little boy was a cute little chunky monkey and his grandma who was rather large herself insisted he must be starving because she kept shoving food in his mouth as he ran the perimeter of the fountain.  Poor kid was destined to be an over eater.

young boy with grandma enter war zone

The show got really funny when the boys started dipping their swords into the fountain flinging water everywhere.  Then they got the brilliant idea to climb up on the edge of the fountain and try to touch the middle tier of the fountain.  Just as one was perched on the edge ready to head dive it into the fountain, his mother finally noticed, stopped her conversation, got up out of her chair and lifted him down.  No scolding, no commentary, no suggestions he should refrain from any of this activity in the future, nothing, she just lifted the little one down off the edge and sat back down to her conversation.  Wow, that was a miracle, we thought for sure he would fall in and were kinda bummed she finally decided to “parent” at the climax of the show.  We certainly didn’t want him to get hurt, but kids like that never get hurt.  They are survivors and are used to fending for themselves.

Is anyone watching? Nope, lets go for it....

Just a little bit further and I think I can reach the middle...

If that would have been my kid at their age, they would have fallen into the fountain, cracked their head open and the paramedics would have been called.  Isn’t it always that way.  Either way, if I didn’t have Tiara in my life, I would have been super annoyed and disgusted by the boys out of control behavior and the parents failure to give a damn, but instead of being irritated they made my whole day.   Mom, Tabitha and I hadn’t laughed that hard in ages and even Tiara liked the show and never asked to leave.   My Dad and Trinity weren’t as intrigued by show and thought their time would be better spent in the bookstore, so they left after a few minutes.  A few other children wanted to throw pennies into the fountain and it was so funny watching the parents try and guard their children from these wild boys.  They had that look of fear in their eyes that some how this behavior could be contagious and were terrified to leave their kids unattended near “the lost boys”.  Sadly, we had to finally leave as Trinity had a date with her grandmother to go back to the St. Joachim Carnival for the third day in a row.   So if you plan on eating at the Atrium Court in the future, be prepared to duck and cover quickly if you see these boys coming……

watch out, here we come....

Happy Tuesday!!!!

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
