Who can we trust?

Mar. 13, 2014

All week I have been hearing about Jose Fernandez, the highest paid superintendent in the state of California and I am beyond disgusted!.  I am horrified that he received $663,000 in compensation last year and yet he only oversees 3 high schools with approximately 6600 students.  I read the conditions in some of the classrooms were so deplorable, a reporter compared them to a 3rd world country.  The teachers have to buy their own paper and school supplies, the band can’t afford to repair the instruments and many classes have been cut in the past few years. All this and more, in the state of California.

What has happened to our society?  How can a man justify taking that kind of salary and stealing from our children?  Why does it feel like everyday we hear a new story about some politician stealing from their city, the state, a government agency or taking illegal gifts?  Has it become impossible to trust anyone in government and or business?  It seems like it to me.

Our country is falling behind academically and I wonder why?  Because people like  Mr. Fernandez are stealing from our children and they can’t get the education they deserve.

I also wonder why did 4 out of 5 school board members agreed to pay him this money?  Was he giving them a kick back or were they hoping one day they would get his job and receive the same compensation?

I read that one of the school board members had the audacity to ask the parents and community attending the school board meeting on Tuesday, “why they didn’t normally attend the meetings?”  Are you fricking kidding me?  Now parents of children in public school are not only supposed to help them with all their homework, donate time and money to the school but also attend the school board meetings?  What a joke!

To be honest with you, I have never been a fan of public schools for many different reasons but as a citizen of this state and this country I take offense to the way our children are being educated or rather not educated in a large portion of our state.

On days like these I literally become overcome with grief.  I step away from my little world and wonder what is happening to our society as a whole?  Why is it normal to lie, cheat and steal?  Why has money become the ultimate God to so many people?  Who is raising our children and what will become of them?

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
