Where is the brush?

Jul. 13, 2012

Ah, Ha, a brush

You may find this hard to believe but it is practically impossible to find a brush in our house.  You are probably thinking, well if you just keep it in a drawer I am sure it will be there tomorrow when you look for it.  If only it was that easy.  The truth is that we have at least 5 brushes, one for each person in our house, but Tiara thinks they are microphones and feels compelled to grab one while singing and then just drops it where ever.  This used to be a huge problem and Lou would get so mad because he would almost be late for work everyday looking everywhere for a brush.  One day he actually was so unsuccessful in his search efforts he had to go to work without brushing his hair.  I love this look and wished he never brushed his hair back, but he was so grumpy, how cute he looked was lost on his bad attitude.  After work that day he drove straight to the beauty supply and bought his own brush and hid it in the top of the closet so she couldn’t get to it.

Unfortunately for him, sometimes Tabitha and I would resort to borrowing his special hidden brush but not return it to the hiding place quick enough.  Tiara is like a pick pocket when it comes to brushes.  You literally set it down on the counter for one second and she swoops in and grabs it before you even notice.  Lets just say he wasn’t happy with us when his brush went missing from the hiding spot.  Trinity hates to brush her hair and teeth so he knew she didn’t take it and would always blame Tabi and I, but of course we were the guilty parties.  Oh well.

Nevertheless, for the past few months, Tiara hasn’t bothered with the brushes so we got lazy and stopped hiding them.  Well, she is back on her brush bandwagon and the problem has returned.  Yesterday Lou was searching all over for a brush before work and finally found one in her toy box.  So, today when I got out of the shower, I too, couldn’t find one anywhere.  I checked the garden, the trampoline, the toy boxes, between the couch cushions, under the dresser, in the kitchen, in the TV console, in the garage and I couldn’t find a single one.  You are probably shocked at the random spots I would look for a hair brush, but truth be told they are all typical places we would normally find the missing brushes.  I got so desperate I went out to my filthy car and looked around the floor and low and behold, there on top of her writing tablet with crayons scattered around, was a brush.  Not a very nice brush, but it would do the job.  I then went into Tabitha’s room and found another one.

I hate walking into Tabitha’s room because she has black out curtains, of which she never pulls open, so it is this dark, disgusting, dirty pit of a place that gives me loads of anxiety just opening the door, so I avoid it at all costs.  But today, I eventually ventured in search of a brush and viola, Lou’s special secret brush was sitting right on her gross bathroom counter surrounded by make up brushes.  I absconded it and returned it to his hiding place so I wouldn’t have to witness the mad dash rush through the house tomorrow morning in search of a hair brush.  Hopefully, he will leave for work in a happy mood tomorrow with his perfectly coiffed hair and I won’t get reprimanded for allowing Tiara to take his brush.

This last statement is actually a joke, Lou never reprimands me but when he gets super frustrated with her and our life he will say jokingly “If only you did your job and took better care of Tiara and the house, we wouldn’t be having this problem.”  My response is usually something like, ” I know darling, I am a loser wife and mother, if only you could have done better!”  I follow up this statement with a big laugh, a big smile and my middle finger.  We both feel better and then go on with our day.  This is part of our FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT philosophy.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
