I guess, this week is all about Mother’s and Daughter’s because everything that keeps happening is centered around this theme. Well, today my Mom, whom we call Nana, offered to come watch Tiara and my sick little muffin, Trinity while I ran to Costco. Trinity was home with a allergy attack, which consists of constant sneezing, red watery eyes and itching everywhere. This all occurs despite 2 daily allergy pills, and a singular. She went on a field trip with her class yesterday and ended up at a petting zoo. Never a good place for someone who is allergic to everything including dust, grass, fur, and trees. Everyone in the family is plagued with allergies, but Trinity has it the worst.
As a result of everyone having allergies I have tried to make our house as free of dust and allergens as much as possible. Every room has an air filter, every mattress and pillow is encased and we do not have one rug or carpet in the place. We used to have to fabulous zebra area rug in the family room but Tiara destroyed it so now we have nothing. I also try to avoid using anything with fragrance or strong chemicals. Kinda of a bummer since our laundry doesn’t have that clean Tide smell I grew up with, but I don’t have a choice. Sadly enough, I can’t even cut my roses and bring them inside. The second I put a nice smelling flower in the house the roof of my mouth starts itching, along with my scalp and Trin starts sneezing. So pathetic. Sometimes it feels like we are some nerdy, bubble family. Other moms are telling their kids to go outside and play on the grass and I am always yelling “stay off the grass!”
Anyways, back to Nana, while I was gone to Costco, Tiara fell asleep so she felt compelled to start cleaning my house. Note, she was dressed in a similar outfit as pictured above. She always looks great like that, even to babysit TT. She made Trinty help her unload the dishwasher and then she started trying to get the crayon marks off the coffee table. The second I walked in she said ” where are all the chemicals in this house? I can’t find any Comet or 409!” ” I know, mom, I don’t use chemicals like that in my house. I use natural or biodegradable cleaners.” She then went on to proclaim ” well, I couldn’t get out the crayon marks with vinegar, I need something abrasive!!! You know I can get any spot out of anything, but not without my dutch cleanser. Next time I come over to babysit, I will bring my own bag of supplies with me in case I have a chance to clean.” My mom loves to clean and is known for being a pro at getting out stains. Trinity then piped in and said ” But, Nana if you use those chemicals in our house, my allergies will flare up.” ” Oh you will be fine, a little chemicals won’t hurt anyone!”
I laughed because next time she comes over she probably will have a stash of comet in her car and the moment I leave she will start scrubbing in her fancy outfit, and there will nothing I can do about it. Gotta love her!
Have a great weekend. Will post a recipe tomorrow for all my friends that keep asking for more!!!

Oh that is took funny!! My Mom is the same way. No chemicals here in our home either and when we are not home or on vacation she comes over with her chemicals and goes to work. Too funny!!!

Yes, it must be the generation, they are not fans of eco friendly, organic, mumbo jumbo, etc.

Have you tried the Melaleuca products? My family has allergies too,and these are all made without chemicals. They have a product called Sol-u-mel that is a great all natural solvent..great for things like crayon marks. Love that your stylish mom cleans in her beautiful clothes!
