Wednesday was supposed to go like this. I get Trinity off to school, Tiara and I go for a walk with my friend around Balboa Island, Tiara takes a nap, I write my blog, I fold the laundry, I make lunch for us, we go to Target and then pick up Trinity early from school and drive her over to Huntington Beach for a school softball game. After the game, we come home, I fix dinner, Lou finally comes home early since we haven’t seen him in days and I finish my nighttime routine concluding with wine and sitting on the couch with my hubby. This isn’t how the day went at all!
I find out Tuesday afternoon school is cancelled Wednesday because of some planned power outage of which the school didn’t know about until the end of the day. I revised my schedule assuming the game would still happen and moved some stuff around. I had cancelled a previous doctor appointment for Trin because of the softball game but then I found out the game was cancelled too. UGH! I couldn’t get her back in for Wed and realized that I had also cancelled Tiara’s teacher so I could go the game and refused interviewing a potential new caretaker for the same reason.
So basically I woke up Wednesday, got my period, had horrible cramps and realized I had not one plan for the whole day but 2 kids to entertain and the housekeeper was coming any minute but the house was so filled with crap it would take her forever to actually get to the cleaning part. If you are anything like me, you need someone to do the serious cleaning for you, but feel stressed the day they arrive because you need to have the house picked up so they can actually clean. For years we went without a weekly cleaning lady because of our finances but Lou was so over my inability to actually clean the bathrooms properly he found himself doing it on his days off. He finally threatened me that we HAD to have a cleaning lady come at least once a week whether we could afford it or not. I don’t win all the arguments in our house and I was so tired of him grinding me about “getting help” a typical topic of consternation in our relationship, so I finally submitted. He always wants me to get more help, yet I refuse to spend money on help when I am worried about keeping my house. Whatever, I am sure you get the idea, if you are a regular reader. You know how stubborn I can be and I have issues with “help.”
Anyways back to Wednesday. The housekeeper arrived, she looked at the house and I told her everyone was home for the day. “I can come tomorrow if you want?”
me: “Really, I’m sorry, but it would probably be better.”
her: “No, problem, see you tomorrow.”
I could tell she was relieved not to deal with cleaning around the whole crew and I was grateful not to have to hear the vacuum all day. She loves to vacuum all the drapes, corners and every nook and cranny in the house. I love it but it really wears on your nerves.
I cancelled my walk realizing it was going to be miserable with Trinity complaining, grumpy Tiara and my cramps, so I rescheduled for tomorrow.
The good news is I finally got the laundry folded and I took the girls to lunch at Wahoo’s so we could get out of the house. We walked around the mall a little bit and Trinity found some cardboard letters at Paper Source which she had been coveting in New York. I bought them for her so she could do a little art project the rest of the day and keep her face off the TV. I can’t stand when Tabitha and Trinity try to watch TV in the middle of the day. Drives me crazy.
The best part of the day was that I actually turned on the TV to see if there was an update about the Pope and it just so happened that I did that 30 minutes after the white smoke appeared and I got to watch Pope Francis walk onto the balcony. I was really excited and took these pictures of the TV.
The reason this was surprising is because I personally never watch TV during the day, only at night. Hannah Montana seems to be the only program ever on our Television yet I was really curious to see if there was any status on the new Pope and my timing was perfect. The cute part was that after he came out and was praying, Tiara was watching him speak and she said ” I like it , I like it. Good show Mommy, Amen, Amen.” She never ceases to amaze me.
It is just after 3:00 p.m. now and I am forcing Trinity to take a walk with Tiara and I to get some exercise. Looks like tomorrow is going to be a busy day because we have that doctors appointment, softball practice, interviewing the new caretaker, gymnastics and our morning walk. Doesn’t it always happen this way?
Oh, one more thing. A friend from college and a loyal reader managed to get my blog on this really fabulous website, AmberKelleher.com. Amber is going to be one of the matchmakers on that new show, Ready for Love, which is premiering March 31, 2013. She is the beautiful blonde in the picture below. Follow the link and see how she showcased Lou and I on her website. Very cool!
Have a great Thursday!

Well, just to let you know — I’ve been so unplugged since yesterday afternoon, I just learned from your blog that they selected the Pope. Ha. I didn’t know. And I agree that you can’t have anyone clean your house when the kids are around. Life never goes as planned. Even the days — it goes according to our schedule — it never “feels” like I think it would. Some days I’m surprised to the positive — sometimes to the negative. Hope you got a great walk around Balboa Island. I went there on my one visit to Southern California many, many years ago.

Isn’t that crazy how one thing can set your whole day off on a tangent you did not expect. Apparently I have been under a rock because I didn’t even realize that the last pope had died? That tells you how much TV has not been on in my house lately! Yikes!

That’s so funny! We were watching tv at the same time on the same network, except that I had just awakened in Hawaii and was waiting to see the announcement before I took off on my morning walk. I love Tiara’s reaction!! Stacie xo
