If you have ever had to deal with a medical issue you know how difficult it can be to get an appointment with a specialist. So difficult, it is a joke. When calling to schedule I always prepare myself mentally for them to to give us an appointment at least 2 months out. If they offer you anything sooner it means your child is dying or their has been a cancellation. It is the rare gift that you receive an email that goes something like this:
” I have been consulting with another physician regarding Tiara and I have some unconventional options to present to you. Can you come to clinic this Thursday, I will squeeze you in?”
I mean this is a sheer miracle and a gift. First the doctor was working on Tiara’s condition without me harassing her and then she wants to see us within a few days. And the gift continues. Her secretary called me on Monday to set up the appointment. “How is 5:15 p.m. on Thursday?” my response: “Great, we will be there!”
I didn’t say what was running through my head. OMG, we will live in Newport Beach and the traffic getting in and out of UCLA at that time will be beyond a nightmare. I didn’t say, “Really, don’t you have something earlier in the day?” I was just super grateful that a physician cared enough to squeeze Tiara in. So guess what happened?
I was mentally preparing myself for the trauma of driving in and out of LA at that time of day when I received a call from the secretary. “Hi, you appointment is scheduled for 5:15p.m. tomorrow but we just had a cancellation. Would you rather come in at 2:30?” sigh of relief, big smile…..
“YES, PLEASE!” And so we are getting ready to drive there right now.
The appointment went well and we decided not to add another medication at this time, in hopes she can lose a little weight. I stopped the Abilify on Monday and her appetite is literally 1/4. It is great! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wonderful news, I am so very happy she is no longer taking Abilify! I found it wasn’t for my son as well. The weight gain & hunger was from it also. I hope you & your family have a great weekend. I enjoy & look forward to hearing as well as reading all. Thank you very much. Sheila
