Last Thursday I took Tiara for her regular teeth cleaning only to learn she had developed 2 cavities. Both in the very back of her bottom teeth, one of each side. You may not think this is such a big deal, but it is a huge deal!
The last time Tiara had a cavity was 8 years ago. It was in the farthest right rear tooth and it got so bad that by the time they went to fill it she needed a root canal. Now when you fill a tooth on Tiara or perform a root canal it has to be done under anesthesia. Since she has so many medical problems the procedure has to be done in a hospital. The root canal took the doctor 4 HOURS to complete. I was totally panicking waiting for the procedure to end because he told me it would take 2 hours at the most. I thought she had died getting a root canal when the doctor finally emerged from the surgery room. He was covered in sweat and super grumpy. He basically said the procedure was a nightmare.
He said it was nearly impossible to get in her mouth it was so small and the tooth was tucked way in the back. He was a dentist trained to deal with special needs children but I wasn’t super impressed with his bedside manner or attitude. Anyways after that procedure and his bad attitude I decided to look for another dentist.
We found Dr. Mathias, in Laguna Niguel and Tiara has been going to her ever since. She is beyond patient with Tiara, always reserves a private room for her, schedules the same hygienist for her every time and reserves stand by help in case is it needed. She has a crazy busy practice so accomplishing all this for Tiara is not a simple task. She has the most beautiful skin and eyes so Tiara loves to look at her.
I also love that she never grinds me about how little I brush Tiara’s teeth. I do my best, but I am pretty much a failure in the oral care department for Tiara. Some tasks are just simply exhausted and more daunting than I can sometimes deal with. Either way, she has never once suggested I floss, she tells me to try and brush once a day and knows that as important as her teeth are, they aren’t at the top of my list.
Dr. Mathias is 8 months pregnant so I am a little worried about when this will get done but on the other hand I am not eager to deal with scheduling the procedure. So we will see how this one goes. I am guessing it will be a lot better than the last time around.
Happy Tuesday!

Oh glad you found a great dentist for Tiara and am in the process of finding one for my girls for the first time, too. I have been putting it off, because taking them to the pediatrician has been enough for me to handle right about now, but know that it is important, so I have the number and need to call hopefully in the next week or so. Sending good thoughts your way though about Tiara’s tetth getting finally quickly and painlessly xoxo!!

So sorry for the tooth trauma, but Tiara looks so pretty with her hair pulled back. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before you all can get this taken care of. hug.
