As I have mentioned or rather I think I have mentioned, Tiara has the worst table manners in the history of mankind, including cavemen. She has never been great in the table manners department but ever since her surgery last year her manners are non existent. We are not sure whether it is because she doesn’t have full vision and can’t see to use her fork or because she didn’t eat solid food for 2 1/2 months and she is playing catch up or she just doesn’t care. Either way the situation has gotten completely out of control and I have practically given up.
Every night she stalks me in the kitchen to hurry and make the dinner, which by the way is always served before 6pm. I mean seriously, wait a minute. I usually break a sweat making dinner because I am so frantic to get it made without her destroying the kitchen around me. She constantly snacks and has an insatiable appetite. Her lowest weight in the hospital last year was 75 pounds. Her current weight is a 148 pounds. She has doubled in a year. huh….. I have been through this pattern with her before and it drives me crazy!!! There isn’t enough food in the world to satisfy her and I feel bad that she is so starving, obviously a side effect from one of her medications, but it is exhausting keeping up with her appetite. Plus I am constantly worried about her blood pressure, but mostly her asthma. Because of the weight issue, I actually have to make a salad, a vegetable and a fruit to go along with our protein main course every night, which takes a little time.
So last night, Lou was home from work and decided to make the dinner for us while TT and I were on a walk. I told him what to prepare and he did everything exactly right, except I usually cut the corn off the cob for TT but he forgot. I was about to get up and do it and then decided, why not let her waste some time trying to eat it herself. So she took to the corn and it was so crazy to watch, I was doing everything I could not to laugh. Lou looked across the table at me and whispered “don’t laugh!” As all good parents know, if you laugh, you are only encouraging the behavior. I looked over a Trinity and she was about to bust up and I just couldn’t hold it anymore. I started belly laughing hysterically. And what happened? Just what I knew would happen. My laughter encouraged her more and she started putting on a show of eating her corn like a cavegirl. Trinity started crying she was laughing so hard and I jumped up and grabbed my camera to capture the show for you.
Hope it makes you laugh, have a great Thursday…
