If you can imagine I have a reader who misses my posts so much she checks my website everyday to see if I have emerged to write something new. So in honor of her (Courtney) and all my dedicated and loyal readers who used to visit me almost everyday to share in my tears, fears and triumphs, I am writing this post.
So a lot has been happening in my life. So much, so that I haven’t found myself bored once and I am usually exhausted by the end of the day. It’s funny, I never had to go looking for a job, jobs have just found me.
During a lunch date in February, a friend I hadn’t seen in years, asked for my help learning to cook. After going over to her home and talking we decided I could help her with so many different aspects of her life, so she hired and we have been meeting several times a week since then. Sometime we do small projects but the past month and a half we have embarked on some rather large endeavors which were beyond successful but left us both exhausted. Working with her doesn’t feel like work and yet we are accomplishing so much, it is really the perfect job for me and a blessing.
My other adventure is working with my real estate agent and friend, Patrick Sweeney. He designed a job for me I had never heard of. He offers all his new listing clients a 2 hour consultation with me, paid by him. I go into their home and help them determine what they should do to their home prior to listing it so it sells for the most value in the quickest amount of time. After the 2 hour consultation they can choose to follow my suggestions and do the work themselves, not follow my suggestions or pay me to help them. They can hire me on an hourly basis to help them declutter, organize, accessorize, pick paint, fix the flow of the house, garden or pretty much anything else needed to get their home ready for the market. It’s a great idea and perfect for both of us. I have only done one home so far, but I look forward to helping him with more clients in the future.
Aside from my work stuff I have been gardening, spending lots of time with the girls and Lou and doing Pilates. I am totally obsessed with Pilates and take class 5 times a week. I am getting seriously buff and I even got Tabitha hooked on it, which has been so great for her.
As for Tabitha, she was spent the past few months basically living at home with us, while still paying rent on her old place. It was so wonderful for her and Trinity to get to know one another again. We all needed to be together during this transition and it was so comforting to have her with us. I was so happy to have her around, I even ignored how messy she is.
Now that most of her friends are graduated from college and coming back to the area she had an opportunity to move in with 3 friends. So I just spent the last week packing up her old apartment and moving her into the new place at the beach, while she was working. Of course Lou helped, but it just so happened moving week was the same week Trinity was away at camp, so I pretty acted like a psycho and did more than I should have. Oh well, not much has really changed on that front. Anyways, we are super excited she gets to live at the beach and experience living with roommates even though it feels really quiet around here without her home. Trin and I are kinda bummed but I suspect she will be finding herself down at the house on the weekends.
As for my sweet Trinity, she just finished 7th grade and is only 1/2 inch shorter than me. She spent her first 3 days of summer volunteering in the classroom of a local elementary school and managed to complete 21 hours of community service for next year. So happy about that. She went to Pali for the 3rd year and had a wonderful time and met more new friends. As for the rest of the summer, she is just hanging out. Today I dropped her at the mall with a friend, I went to work for 2 hours and then went back and picked them up.
Lou has started building things, which I love!!!! He rebuilt my grandfather’s adirondack bench and then made me a custom bench for our outside patio area. Two weeks ago he built my parents a new gate for the side of their home, it looked better than professional. He is really good and I always have a new project in mind for him to build.
As for Stella and Mickey, they are great! Stella is so fluffy she doesn’t even look like the same dog we adopted 4 months ago. She sleeps at the end of our bed every night and loves to run around the back yard. She does have a habit of peeing in the house randomly and always in Tiara’s old room. We think it is rather interesting that she only pees in Tiara’s room, perhaps TT is sending her messages?
Unfortunately since Tiara’s passing there have been several deaths in the community and one in our family which has been really hard. Lou and I have become even more religious and we have nicknamed our sunroom “the prayer room” since Lou is always in there reading his bible. The girls tease him a little and we call him the Deacon but I really love it!
I hope to get back to my writing but I feel so inspired to be doing things, rather than sitting at a desk inside, I can’t seem to force myself to get back to it. I know I will in time but until then, thank you for missing me. I miss you too!
