Yesterday I decided to start a huge project and now I am shooting myself in the leg for starting such a large endeavor.
I was out in the backyard attempting to make my neglected yard look decent by weeding the beds and the area between the cement. When we bought this house over 10 years ago their was wood between the cement which was hideous and dangerous. I pulled it out and tried to grow grass in the area. Over the years I have tried grass, baby tears, and several other ground covers, none of which lasted more than 6 months.
As I was weeding it became really obvious that there was only weeds, dirt and dead grass in the cracks. Yikes! Well, I finally found something that would grow in the area, weeds! I decided last night I was over the whole mess. I thought about it for a minute and then I started pulling it all out. Trinity’s party is next Friday and I figured I could get some fake grass in their and the whole yard would be much improved.
Hmmm, not sure what the heck I was thinking starting this project the week of Easter and a week before the party. I still don’t have the Easter baskets done or anything to put in them, but once again I jumped into something head first without thinking it all the through.
Last night Tiara was really agitated in her sleep. She woke up at 2am and asked for a breathing treatment. I got her the treatment and went to sleep in the twin bed. She was so happy to see her Dad she begged him to come sleep with her. At 5am I saw she was fidgeting again and Lou got up. He came back with the thermometer and took her temperature.
Me: “Does she feel hot?”
Lou: ” Yes, she seems really warm. Ohhh, her temperature is 101.5!”
I jumped up to look at the thermometer myself and instantly started panicking when I saw the number. I ran and got the Advil while Lou started putting cold cloths on her. We forced her to keep on the oxygen cannula and I started obsessing on how this was going to go. Oh My Gosh, we are doomed.
We finally got her temperature down, her Oxygen level up and she was resting comfortably and I realized I was in big trouble. What if she gets worse and has to go to the hospital, now that her lungs are already compromised? What if we miss Easter and when don’t get back until next week, how will I fix the yard? It is the end of the month and Lou will be off Friday but that’s it, we will barely see him until next Monday. He works nonstop the last week of the month.
So far today, she has been OK. I have kept her inside all day and given her Advil every 6 hours with multiple breathing treatments. I am praying tomorrow is as good and by some miracle we won’t have to go the hospital.
If anyone has experience with putting fake grass in a little area like shown above, please advise. I am screwed and today I have done nothing about the yard except stare at the mess I made through the window.
Hope you have a great day!

Yes, I was going to suggest the same thing. You get bags of the rocks right at ‘Larry’s Building supplies’ on Baker. It’s super easy and quick. Looks great too!

Nuts but I thought it looked nice in the “before” shot. Can you still do the fake grass quickly?

I hope that Tiara doesn’t get any worse…I would hate for you to miss your Easter party. I second and third all the suggestions on the rocks.
Good luck girl.

Well thank you everyone for the rock/pebble suggestion. I ordered some fake grass online last night which won’t be in until Tuesday. if I run out of time I will go with the pebbles and find another spot for the grass…. Xoxo
