Tuesday morning Trinity, Tiara and I made a Costco run. I have been able to avoid Costco for months but since we started this new health program we go through so much meat, poultry and cheese it is worth the hassle of dragging all the kids with me because we save so much money.
Since I knew Tiara would be too tired to walk the whole store, I pushed her in the wheelchair while Trinity walked around trying samples. As we were in line to pay Trinity realized she couldn’t live without buying the Focaccia she had just sampled. She ran back to grab the bread and as I pushed Tiara’s chair forward it dipped to the left. It felt like it was about to topple over and as I looked at the ground I expected to see a big hole or something stuck on the ground. Instead I saw the back wheel of her wheelchair laying on the ground. OMG!
The man loading our cart freaked out and was like” Oh my God, what are we going to do? I can’t believe the wheel just fell off!”
Me: ” It is OK, don’t worry she can walk, I will just have her hold on to the cart for balance.” Her morning meds were kicking in so we didn’t have much more time to walk her to the car until she swayed like a drunken sailor or dosed off.
He helped me try and put the wheel back on but it wouldn’t stay. Oh well, I hear things break in three’s. First the dryer, then last week my washing machine and now the wheelchair. I hope this is the end of the breaking phase.
I was just super grateful the wheel feel off in Costco not in the middle of our morning walk. Now that would be a nightmare!
Either way we got her out to the car without incident and luckily Trinity made it back with her bread before he rang up our purchases. The biggest obstacle was for Trinity. She couldn’t figure out how to push to chair without the wheel. Finally the Costco guy started giving her instructions, “push on the two right wheels and tilt it to the side”. She finally made it to the car but not without almost falling over several times.
We had run out of her ADD meds yesterday and let’s just say it was a really long day. She couldn’t quite figure out the simplest of tasks and she wouldn’t stop talking. By the time we got home from her doctor’s appointment at 5pm with the refill on her prescription I was delirious from the incessant talking. She was in the process of telling me about setting up a court in her room and asking if I would be on the jury or present a case when I just lost it. My wonderful motherly response:
“Trinity as much as I love you, I think I may go insane if you keep talking. I will not attend your fricking court but feel free to ask other family members. Love you!”
her: “Well, fine if you are going to be like that Mom, I won’t ask you again.”
me: “Thank you Lord!”
And on another note, my house is still for sale after being re-listed for the past week. SO NOT HAPPY! Hello, people you all promised me it would sell quick and it hasn’t.
Happy Thursday!

You had me cracking up with your answer to Trinity and seriously, I have had those moments, too once in a awhile around here. I think we all just have our breaking points. Just glad though that you got more meds for her and also that even though the wheelchair’s wheel broke that you were able to manage at Costco. And am still saying prayers that your house will sell quickly now!! 🙂 xoxo!!

I can relate about the wheelchair. ha you know the huge cables on the ground at the fair? was pushing deb over one once and her wheel fell off.:( she was small though so it wasn’t too big an issue. you would think for the price those wheels would stay on huh? 🙂
Glad you all made it back to the car safe. Hope the house sells soon and ps. I said it would sell but I didn’t say soon so i’m not black balled right? haha have a nice day.
