Friday was the day the swing was supposed to arrive but since we had an open house scheduled, I almost forgot. The day was rather chaotic because Tiara was getting sick and didn’t want to leave the house for 3 hours but she didn’t have a choice. She had been coughing all night and kept spitting up disgusting green loogies which she loves to hand over to me all day long.
We left the house at 10:45am, went to Target, went to pick up Trinity from school, went to lunch, drove around, visited my Dad at his office in Tustin and finally ended up at her pediatricians office in Tustin at 3:00 p.m. We got her some antibiotics and finally started home. She was pretty much freaking out since we had been gone all day and as we were driving home she looked at me and said “SWING”. I had totally forgotten about the swing. “OMG, TT I forgot, let’s pray it is on our porch when we pull up.”
We started praying over and over again. Tiara loves to pray. As we pulled up, I saw the box from the driveway. We both started cheering and screaming and Lou who had pulled up simultaneously in his car with Trinity was wondering what we were screaming about. “The swing, it’s here, it’s here.”
He carried it to the back porch and then walked away to change his clothes. I immediately cut open the box and started putting the thing together. While Lou was changing, Tiara decided to raid the cabinet and started pouring nuts, cereal, crackers and what ever she could find into several plastic bowls for her snack. Super typical for her and I ignored the mess since I was so eager to get the swing done. No wonder I spend so much money on food each week.
I was almost done with the swing but needed help tightening the bolts so I called for Lou. As I went in to clean the mess, he was tightening the bolts and Tiara was sitting watching the whole thing, trying to wait patiently. Suddenly she jumped up while Lou was concentrating on the bolts and she plopped all 190 pounds onto the swing while it was still on the ground. We both heard a loud crack but weren’t quite sure what happened. Once we got her off, he lifted the swing to find she had broken the back piece of wood where it braced the seat. I was so mad I can’t even describe how I felt. I looked at Lou and instantly started blaming him for not watching her.
lou: “Tiffani don’t blame me you know this isn’t my fault. I feel just as devastated as you.”
me: ” I need to blame someone right now, so please let me blame you.”
lou: “Fine, blame me but you know it was her, not me. The swing in ruined, we can’t use it, I am going to put it on the side of the house.” (Typical response from Lou)
me: ” Oh, no you aren’t. You can fix it. I will get the Gorilla glue.”
lou: “No, you said that glue ruined the other swing.”
me: “I don’t care, it will work, fix it, please!”
lou: “Ok, it wont’ work but I’ll try.”
Of course like always, he set his mind to it, once I demanded it and he fixed it! Yay Louie! Within 3 hours the swing was up and working and Tiara has been smiling ever since. Well that was until the diarrhea kicked in from the antibiotics on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Oh I forgot to mention the rash on my body has been completely out of control and now I have a few spots on my face. So looks like my birthday week is going to be all about diarrhea, dermatologists and more house showings. Yay me!
