Is that too much to ask for? A moment of sitting on the couch to read the paper or a book on a Saturday afternoon?
Sometimes it feels like that is an impossible feat for me, especially today. I just had a huge fight with Tiara and my hands are bleeding in numerous spots from her digging her nails into my skin as I tried to hold her back from walking through broken ceramic all over the kitchen floor.
This is what happened.
I woke up feeling exhausted and totally not rested after another sleepless night. What’s new? Once I got Tiara’s breakfast routine done, medicine and 2 breathing treatments accomplished along with picking up the house she decided to lay down for a nap. Fabulous! I read her 4 books and was drifting off to sleep myself when she popped out of bed, threw off her oxygen mask and stormed out of the bedroom. Hmmm, guess we aren’t taking a nap!
I followed her into kitchen and once again we started arguing about what she can and can’t eat. After I agreed to another granola bar, my phone rang. It was Tabitha and she needed a ride home from the peninsula. She thought it would be a good idea to roller-blade 13 miles to the wedge and back, after a night of partying and a morning without water or food. Her body was giving out on her so I got in the car with Tiara and drove down to pick her up so she wouldn’t have to skate the last 5 miles home.
Once we rescued her and returned back home, Tiara got back in bed, while Trinity and Tabitha argued at the end of the bed because Trinity wouldn’t take off Tabitha’s skates for her. Suddenly Tiara took her Ipad and hit Trinity in the head. Trinity started screaming crying while Tabitha laid into Tiara. Erin showed up to sit with Tiara while I comforted Trinity and tried to calm her down. I think Trinity’s feelings hurt more than head.
After we all got ready Tabitha, Trinity, my Mom and I went off to meet my Dad for lunch at the food trucks. My parents love to do this everyday Saturday but we have never gone because we can’t take Tiara. Now that Erin is here to help me and Tabitha had the day off we got to do a girls trip. We had a great lunch of fried avocado tacos and potato and mushroom taquitos followed by a walk through Surface, the coolest cooking store ever.
After we got home, Erin left and Tiara claimed she wanted to take a nap. I did the same book reading routine with arm tickles as I did in the morning and once again she decided not to take her nap. She asked for a snack and then wouldn’t stop eating.
I made her guacamole and crackers and then started a frozen pizza for Trinity because she was still hungry from lunch. Once I cleaned Tiara up, she got really mad because Tabitha and Trinity were sitting down together painting their nails and watching a show. Tiara already got her nails painted earlier in the day by Erin, but she was still super jealous. So she started ripping off her clothes and throwing them at her sisters.
Once I finally got her dressed the pizza was ready. I took it out to cool and went to sit down and saw Tiara head straight for the kitchen. I had to jump up and stop her from touching the hot pan. I then had to stand guard at the stove so she wouldn’t burn herself and or run off with the whole pizza. I finally cut it up and gave her 2 pieces once I took off the cheese, she is allergic to cheese, and sat her down. I then went to the bathroom and suddenly heard a loud crash. I jumped up and ran into the kitchen to find Tiara standing in the middle of a broken plate shattered all over the floor. She had stolen the last of the pizza and was trying to get out the back door so I wouldn’t see her and dropped the plate while trying to open the door.
I finally got her away from the broken pieces but then she flew to the ground and starting hitting me and yelling for pizza. After about 10 minutes of hitting, scratching, hair pulling and wrestling, I finally called for Tabitha to clean up the plate because I was starting to lose the battle and I was worried she would cut her feet if she got away. Once the plate was cleaned up, she finally decided she was done fighting and wanted to watch Hannah Montana. I walked her to her room, put on the show, shut the door and walked to the computer to write this.
Within 2 minutes I heard a huge crash of toys being dumped out of their container. I peeked into her room to make sure she was OK, and I saw her sitting in a pile of toys with a poopie diaper, which I could smell from the door. To be honest, I just closed the door and walked away. I didn’t have the strength to deal with her yet, I needed a little break. Ohhh, I just ran back in there and changed her because I heard her yell “Poopie Bad!!” I caught her just as she was about to pull down her pants and smear the poop every where. Luckily I was just in time.
So now it is 5:05 p.m. and Lou still won’t be home for hours, I suspect. That means I only have 4 more hours until she will be asleep.
Sunday afternoon
Well, the day got worse yesterday and by 6:00 p.m. I begged Tabitha to call Louie and ask him to come home from work. She called him, didn’t tell him the whole situation, and as a result he said he couldn’t come home. He finally showed up at 9:00p.m. and was in tears and Tiara was still awake.
Sunday morning he woke up and was helping her with her breathing treatment and she kept scratching and hitting him and it was only 8am. She doesn’t usually hurt Lou as much as me but she was today. After about an hour of her and her crazy behavior he decided he couldn’t leave me to fend for myself again and decided to stay home from work to help me. I felt really guilty about that but I also felt so relieved. I was so worried about making it through Sunday.
So that was my weekend, hope yours was better than mine!

Oh Tiffani, I am so sorry how Tiara acted this week. I do know from reading you blog that this can be normal for all she has been through with her, but still I do feel for you in moments and even days such as these. Thinking of you and can’t even imagine. Just know I truly think you are a wonderful mother and give you such props through it all!! xoxo 🙂
