road trip in the prius…

May. 04, 2012

Trinity getting ready for road trip

So when you are reading this today all of us, except Tabitha, will be piled in my Prius driving to Northern California.   Let me just tell you, Lou is so not excited to be driving “the tin can” up the 5 freeway.  When we decided to make the trip for his Auntie Connie’s 60th Birthday last week, he went into a tailspin thinking about driving that “thing”.  He started the week by telling us all he was in charge and we were taking the C-class, which of course has no storage and we absolutely cannot fit in.  So  Trinity and I kept saying “No we are not!”  Finally I threatened I wouldn’t go if he brought it up again, nor would I go if we went in the C-class.  Side note:  I always knew I was bossy, but seriously, the more I blog, the more I realize how crazy bossy I am.  My poor sweet husband doesn’t stand a chance.  I really am a control freak!

He then moved on to his fall back plan.  Buy a new car for the drive to Nor Cal.  Really Lou?  We finally have 2 nice, inexpensive cars that both get good gas mileage and you want to get a bigger car just for the one weekend!  Most people would think, “hey lets rent a car for the weekend.”  Not Lou, he doesn’t really like rental cars, who knows who drove them before us.  He is very particular about his cars.  Like most families we had the Suburban, the mini van, the utility vehicle in different makes and models and now that the kids are older and Tabitha drives herself, so we have downsized.  I love it, Lou hates it.  Like everything in our lives, we are completely on the opposite sides of the spectrum, except when it comes to our kids.  They are the only thing that we both agree on.

So it is Thursday afternoon and Lou’s day off and no one has delivered a new car to our house, so I think I dodged that bullet.  I am just dreading the drive home though, because all 5 of us will be squeezed into that Prius.  Tabitha is flying in on Saturday and has to drive home with us, so I am sure Sunday will be a lovely day.  The good news is that I won’t be cooking, cleaning or doing laundry for several days, which will be very odd, but I think I can handle it.

Gotto go, off to get my steroid shot at the doctor’s before I start packing.  I told Lou ” first I have to finish the laundry, I know, can you believe I still have more, then go the doctors, then make dinner, then pack and then do my blog, if I have time”.  Guess what?  I am doing my blog first because that is the most fun and Lou says that is all I ever do anymore.  Whatever.  He just asked me where Tiara’s bra was and I was like ” I don’t know, check her drawer.”  He said, ” maybe you should check your blog, love”.  Ha Ha  Louie..

OK, just got back from the Doctors and he wouldn’t give me a steroid shot, said the allergist had to do it.  Seriously Dude, I totally tried to strong arm him and he knew I was not happy so he finally consented to a course of oral steroids. Really, I hate those.  He also took 5 vials of blood and has me rushing to the allergist next week. Oh boy, do I really have time for this?  OK, off to pack.

Tiara is in a super bad mood and just beat the crap out of me so I am praying this little vacation is going to make her happier, not worse.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I am actually taking the weekend off, so you won’t hear from me until Monday.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
