The past 24 hours haven’t been totally horrible but a series of events have me wishing the day would end quickly and we could start over tomorrow.
Last night, Tabitha decided to go to the market and grab some avocados, since we we were making our favorite seared tuna and avocado dish, but we were a few short. Tabitha hates going places by herself, and she loves to drag TT along, so she asked Tiara if she would go with her to the market. Tiara said, “yes, yes, car, drive, music.” So off they went while I cooked the dinner and dealt with Trinity’s homework, never a good subject for me in our house.
Twenty minutes later Tabitha arrived home in tears and Tiara was saying, “crying, crying bad,” over and over again. Apparently for no reason at all, Tiara just grabbed on to Tabitha’s hair and took her down in the market. Tabitha couldn’t get herself free and no one was stepping up to help. They were just all watching her get attacked and doing nothing. Finally a man who understand the situation approached and started talking to Tiara sweetly and told her to stand up please. Tiara listened, Tabitha still finished waiting in line to pay for her items and then came home with the shopping basket in her arms. She was so upset and stressed she took home the basket.
I can’t tell you how horrible I felt knowing that Tiara hurt Tabitha like she hurts me. It is one thing for her to abuse me but it is never OK for Tiara to hurt her siblings. My heart felt so heavy. Tiara had hurt Tabitha at home in the past when Tabitha was attempting to defend me but Tiara had never turned on her in public. Tiara usually gives you some warning that she is about to lose it, but last night it was totally unexpected. The whole thing totally sucked and it really put a damper on our night.
Later that night when I went to change Tiara’s diaper I saw that she had started her period. I then realized the whole outburst was hormonally driven and just another indicator of how horrible PMS can be in a special needs child.
Tiara did get in big trouble and apologized repeatedly to Tabitha and by this morning everything was back to normal between the two. Tiara is Tabitha’s favorite person in the whole world, so she couldn’t stay mad long.
Once again I had a super fitful night’s sleep and when I woke up this morning I was so exhausted I could barely see. I made my way down the hallway towards the kitchen, when I suddenly stepped on something squishy and waxy. Well, what else would it be but poop? I turned on the light and saw that Bailey had pooped on his bed and down the hallway. The poop was filled with crayons. Wow. I cleaned my foot and then told Lou to watch Tiara so I could clean it up. Since he started eating crayons a week ago his poop is rather hard, so it wasn’t such a big job.
I finally got my coffee and got ready as I had a meeting this morning and Lou was off so he would be watching Tiara for me. After my meeting I came home to find the front door open. I totally panicked when I drove up the driveway and saw the door wide open. I thought Tiara must have escaped and Lou was out looking for her. I ran into the house, to find every door and window open, Tiara sitting on the couch with her crayons, the house a disaster area and Lou grumpy as ever. “Bailey just pooped in the house again!” “Oh no, I better call the vet because he has never done this.”
A week and a half ago I had to take Bailey to the vet for an ear infection and he had so much hair in his ear they had to put him to sleep to clean it out. Because he has such bad allergies like the rest of the family he also needed a steroid shot and a course of antibiotics along with the huge ear regimen I have to do daily. I figured the steroids were making him starving and that is why he suddenly started eating crayons, so I just started feeding him more. The doctor thought that he couldn’t handle the extra food and since his poop routine was off, he just went in the house. Well, poodles are supposed to be brilliant and I am not totally buying this theory but I am going to wait it out. The doctor also said that the crayons wouldn’t hurt him, so don’t feed him extra food, just keep the crayons off the floor. Ohhh, that should be easy!
And lastly Tabitha went to our new internist and she found something weird on Tabitha and now she has to go back later today for some more testing.
My Mom was complaining to me this afternoon that her day “just started off terrible” because she woke up to her neighbors broken sprinkler shooting up a geyser outside her window. Is that terrible? Her morning actually did get kinda bad when the rat they have been trying to catch caught it’s tail on the trap outside on her wall and fell off the wall into the neighbors tree screeching and squirming. Thank Goodness it didn’t fall on her side of the wall or that would have been a 7 alarm tragedy. I then told her about my poop stepping incident and she said “OK, you win, that was worse.” Yay, I won!!
Have a great Wednesday…
