As many of you know, I have a serious sweet tooth, which I normally satisfy with a cookie. I like cookies which are homemade, from Mrs. Field’s, the Corner Bakery and Paradise Cafe and that is pretty much it. I am super picky and hate to waste calories on bad cookies.
While I was in the hospital one night I was invited to a free dinner in the Ronald McDonald room provided by Chick-fil-A. I am kinda weird about stuff like that. In the past I have never participated in any free meal offered to me while staying with TT in the hospital but this night I was really hungry and seriously considered it. The dinner was from 5:45 until 6:30 and somehow I missed it. At 7:00 I was totally starving and went down to the cafeteria to find it closed. I then went into the Ronald McDonald room to see if there was any left overs. I found 4 chicken sandwiches and a plate of amazing looking cookies. I ate a sandwich and then grabbed one of the cookies. It was seriously one of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten. It was thick and crunchy on the outside but totally gooey and doughy inside with chocolate bar pieces that melted in your mouth even though the cookie wasn’t warm. I totally obsessed on the cookie all night and could hardly wait to have another.
Today, Tiara asked for lunch which was a huge improvement. She wouldn’t eat anything I fixed her and at 1:30 she sat up in bed and said, “car, car, chicken, chicken.” Oh, she wants to go for a drive to get chicken, love it. I loaded her into the wheelchair, put her on the portable oxygen tank and drove straight to Chick-fil-A. Hummm, cookie for me and chicken for her. She was slowly eating her chicken and saw me wolfing down my cookie. She said, “Mom, cookie, cookie!”
me: “Fine you can have a bite but you have to finish your chicken after that.”
I suspected everyone would try to eat my cookies so I bought six just in case. As it is, if I don’t move them away from my desk right now they will be all gone any minute and the 5 pounds I lost will welcome me back tomorrow.
Tiara grabbed the cookie and ate the whole thing before finishing off her chicken. Wow, I was so excited she ate so much. She was totally exhausted after the adventure so I drove her straight home and put her back to bed. It is funny because I never wanted to eat at Chick -fil-A before and I have never gone to the drive through until today. Looks like that free meal at CHOC got them a customer for life. Win/win for both of us. Thank you Chick-fil-A for helping the families at CHOC during a really difficult time.
Here are a few pictures of Tiara playing basketball in the backyard last night.
