My hair color/cut journey continues….

Dec. 06, 2012

tiffani goff at home

Today was my 3rd appointment with the lovely ladies at The Color Boutique and instead of changing the color we decided it would be fun to cut off 8 inches.  I really love the brown for some reason, totally baffling to me that I like having brown hair, but I do.  I wanted to keep it 5 more weeks before I moved on and because I have been seeing bob cuts everywhere I started thinking I really should try a variation of one.

I have found this hair journey to be rather addicting.  My whole life I’ve had long blonde hair with the exception of the bob cut I had in the 3rd grade, the asymmetrical cut I had in the 7th grade, the short bob I got in Paris, my junior year of college while studying abroad and the last layer short cut I attempted 6 years ago.  So 4 times in my life I have made a semi-dramatic change but now, I won’t even think of keeping the same look more than 6 weeks.  IT IS SO FUN!

I am really lucky because I totally trust Tina and Sandra, so once we decide what the next look is going to be I pretty let go and enjoy the process.

When I arrived today Tina decided we should stick with exactly the same color as last time because since we were putting brown over brown instead of brown over red the color would be slightly darker.  Perfect.  Once Sandra arrived I showed her pictures of myself from the past with shorter layered hair and I pointed out what I didn’t like about my past cuts.  Then we looked at the sassy pictures of Kate Moss in the current issue of Vanity Fair and decided I wanted an Old World Hollywood glam look.  Of course I love all the sleek bobs currently on the runway, but as I have mentioned before, I am a big hair girl.  Can’t do sleek and sexy, I need some serious volume.

Once Tina finished the color, Sandra spent at least 10 minutes playing with my hair and looking at the growth pattern before she explain a few different options in the cut.  She is a great communicator and really confirms she and the client are on the same page and have the same vision for the finished look before she starts cutting.  Before the first cut she showed me exactly where it was going to happen.  Of course I was nervous with a pit in my stomach but also super excited.  Once she made the first cut I felt liberated.  No turning back now and my long hair that spent 90% of its time in a pony tail or hidden under a hat was going to actually have a style!

The cool thing about this new cut is you can wear it styled under and it looks like a sleek bob or you can flip the ends out how I like it.  I can still wear it in a ponytail, pigtails, half up/half down and it looks cute with my flowers and barrettes.  Thinking this is the most versatile cut I have ever had and I AM LOVING IT.

I am also thinking if you are bored with your life and need something to cheer you up, join me on the color journey.  Seriously, I am challenging you.  Have some fun!  As Sandra always tells me “it’s just hair, it will grow.”  Exactly.

If you live in Orange County the process will be super easy for you because you can just visit the ladies at the Color Boutique and you won’t have to worry about finding a good stylist.  If you live elsewhere just make sure you find a stylist who is very skilled and isn’t afraid to make changes.

Each stylist makes their own appointments so if you want to reach my peeps call them here:

Sandra: 949 394-5457

Have a wonderful Thursday and THANK YOU TINA AND SANDRA!

I love it! She did a great job! I play with my color and cut all the time too. I am naturally strawberry blonde but have been every color under the sun. I have also went from bra strap length to pixie cut in one day! Mid length looks great on you…time for a new family pic 🙂

I can’t believe you went all the way to a pixie!!! I am brave but I don’t think I am that brave. Love that you change it up all the time, that is my plan for the future….xox tiff

You are too cute. I love the brown on you too. My 11 year old is having hair color drama. I agreed to let her have highlights for her birthday next month. Now she tells me she wants blue! highlights. Is that something you are considering?

How funny because I would love to put different colors in my hair but because I want to help out my stylists and encourage women to mix it up a little, me going a little punk might not be the best approach. My dream is to have light pink hair, but not sure that is going to happen. When I was in 6th grade close to your daughters age, my mom let me die my bangs a semi-permanant blue. I loved it but was a little awkward at cotillion. Haha. I did let Trinity have pink highlights this summer that we put in ourselves.

Recent Interview

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
