If you are new to my blog, here is a quick summary of my hair color journey. I have been a blonde entire life and for my 43rd birthday (9/11//2012) I embarked on a hair journey with the help of my sponsors, Tina Scoville Salvucci and Sandra Slaga from the Color Boutique in Newport Beach. My goal was to change my hair color every 6- 8 weeks along with the cut and style to experience what it was like to have different hair. This was me in September, October and November of 2012:
Friday was my hair appointment and I feel a million times better since I got my hair done. I haven’t had it cut or colored since Feb 1, which is over 3 months because of Tiara’s constant hospitalizations. The amazing thing is that my hair didn’t even look bad. A serious testament to Tina’s coloring ability and Sandra’s cutting techniques. I never even trimmed my own bangs the whole time, total miracle! Sandra cut them so great I was able to just push them to the side as they grew and they turned into side bangs.
Our plan was to make my hair much blonder like the color of Trinity’s. Seriously starting to miss the blonde. I brought in a picture of Trinity’s hair to show Tina and she decided we should just weave my whole head with a light blonde since my roots were coming in light, we could work with my natural hair color. So she weaved me and put me under the dryer while I relaxed and read my book. After the weave was done, she put in a toner, I waited a little longer and then I got my message/hair wash.
Sandra was ready for me right away and she gave me a few cutting options. I had no plan in mind for my cut, so I left it up to Sandra. She loves to slowly comb out my hair and think about what look would work best with my hair texture, my coloring and my future hair plans. She presented me with 2 options she thought would be great and I chose the more layed carefree style. I love a good angled blunt cut but I tend to like a messier, sexier look. Like always she gave me a great cut and then went to blow drying and styling.
I can never really tell what the color totally looks like until Sandra blows my hair out so I was really eager for her to finish it up. I sat staring at myself wondering if it looked blonde. It is much blonder than last time but it still isn’t blonde in my eyes. I have a feeling once I wash it a few times and get back to my walks outside it will be the color of Trinity’s in no time but until then I will have to be patient.
Either way, I love it and I have never had this color hair in my entire life, which is the whole point. So once again, it is a journey and I am going through all the steps but I have been feeling a little impatient to be really blonde quick and was ready to jump 3 steps ahead. I am forcing myself to stay the course and enjoy the journey.
Oh and by the way, my Mac Russian Red Lipstick that I have been wearing since college looks good with absolutely every hair color so far. I have only had to buy one new lipstick for the brown hair and that was a different shade of pink, more peachy toned than I usually wear. Yes, Karen these two sentences are for you since you always mention I should talk about if I need to change my makeup with my different hair colors. The answer is basically No, pretty much everything has worked so far. I think that is because Tina always considers my skin tone when deciding on which hair color to choose.
Thank you again, Tina and Sandra for always doing an amazing job!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I had all the family over for lunch after church and the kids played in the hose and jumped on the trampoline. It was too hot outside for TT so they (her cousins and sisters) set up a chair next to the window that faced the backyard and they took turns sitting with her so she could watch everyone play. She loves to watch and they had the music blaring which is her absolute favorite. It was a really easy, simple and fun family day, plus I got Sprinkle’s cupcakes (1/2 dozen all to myself) so it was perfect!

Love, love, love the new color. And it definitely is so very close to Trinity’s from the picture you posted. I am a natural brunette, but have been lightening my hair color for years now. I tried to go back to brown for a bit and hated it. So, I am back to more blond I went. But I can totally relate to not getting to the salon often enough with two little kids to take care of.
