So I have a few new things to share that have happened this past week.
Tiara has been in a shopping mood
I don’t think I have told you this, but Tiara insists we go to Target everyday for popcorn and a diet coke. This has been going on for well over a month and since I love getting out of the house, I don’t mind taking her there everyday. Some days we go only for the snack and other days we pick up a few things. Everyone knows us there and I am sure the manger probably isn’t a fan because Tiara isn’t the neatest eater. Somehow we seem to leave a trail of popcorn everywhere she goes. Anyways something excited has happened for the past few days. Tiara hasn’t been as tired and she keeps asking to go out shopping more than once a day. Usually I have to beg her to leave the house and most times she wins and we usually stay home but this week she has been ready to go. Yesterday I took her to Target, Trader Joe’s, Vicki Marsha, Trinity’s volleyball game, to dinner and then to the Old Navy sale with both her sisters. She has not spent that much time out of the house in several years! And now today, she wanted to keep going again. Since I hadn’t used my TJ Maxx gift card from my birthday we went shopping there and bought some towels for my hideous bathroom.
My bathroom is the anti-spa. It is ugly, old and always a mess because Tiara loves to spend lots of time in there watching Lou and I get ready. In addition both Trinity and Tiara shower in there, so it always looks like crap. Today, Tt and I gave my bathroom a mini makeover with new towels, and a glass dish for the top of the toilet and reorganized. I couldn’t bare to show you a before picture because it is too embarrassing but just know this still boring looking bathroom is so much better than before and the new towel colors are really fun and bright. Tomorrow I am going to paint the mirror the same lime green as my bedroom walls to tie the whole space together. It may actually look somewhat presentable after that.
My Health
I finally found a good internal medicine doctor, Mae Kinaly, near the Hoag Medical Center in Irvine. She is like this absent scientist who is rather scattered but totally brilliant. She ordered 11 vials of blood to try and figure why I am always so tired. Just so you know, I have been tired my whole life, not just since Tiara was born. I thought 11 vials was a little excessive but when Tabitha went to see her the day after me, she had to give 18 vials of blood. Guess, I got off lucky.
Anyway, she discovered my thyroid numbers were still off so she increased my medicine dose and added another thyroid pill to raise my T3 in the middle of the day when I get super exhausted. She also discovered I have these 4 viruses present in my system that could be the cause of me always being exhausted, even when I sleep. Apparently this is a kind of new discovery in the medical world, but Dr. Kinaly is seeing between 2 and 4 of these viruses present in lots of her female patients that never feel rested. In order to treat the viruses you take 6 weeks of antiviral medication for each virus present in the body, which would put me at 24 weeks or constant medication. UGH! Because she wants to rule out all the variables, I am not starting any antiviral medications until my thyroid issue is adjusted. I have had much more energy, so I am hoping that will solve the problem and I won’t have to address the virus issues.
Also, as for my weird eye thing, my pupils are no longer different sizes. Dr. Kinaly and my friend both think it was a weird reaction to the eye exam, so I have cancelled my neurology visit, as I am pretty sure I don’t have a brain tumor or MS, at least not right now.
My New Favorite Lunch
So I have gotten kinda lazy with my salad making and my new doctor thinks I need more protein in my diet, so I came up with a new lunch which is basically carb free, so I am thinking you will all like it. I learned my cooking skills from my mom and she doesn’t measure anything so I wanted to give you her recipe for homemade pesto, which I have been using in this recipe, but she has no idea how much she puts in of anything. Sorry, Ok here is my 2 minute, healthy, easy lunch:
- 1 teaspoon of pesto, homemade if possible
- big handful of turkey meat
- 1 roma tomato diced, cut or chopped, doesen’t matter
- 1/2 avocado
- splash of balsamic vinegar
- drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper
Put down a pile of turkey on the plate, add the tomato, the avocado, and the pesto in the middle. Add the seasoning and drizzle with the oil and vinegar. I then cut it all up and kind of mix it around, but it looks a little disgusting so I didn’t take a picture of that. Anyway, it is really yummy, probably just because the pesto is so good, but I have eaten this for 3 days straight.
Tiara was back on her bike
When Tiara was in the rehabilitation home last year, they had her ride a 3 wheeled bike around the hallways with the help of the therapist. She loved it more than anything! My parents were so excited for her, they gave us some money to buy her a bike, so she could ride when she got home. The bike at the facility was about $3000, but I found a similar one on Amazon for $300. There were a few key difference but the most important one, is that the bike we bought has gears. As a result the wheels spin backwards and make this really exciting sound. I clearly didn’t think this through or realize this small factor would be a huge problem. Well, Tiara loves to sit on her bike and peddle backwards because it is so easy and you get to hear the funny noise. Trinity and I have taken her out so many times and she refuses to peddle forward. So basically I push the bike, steer the bike and she sits on the nice comfy seat laughing and giggling.
Because it has been so hot this summer, she hasn’t rode her bike in months but this past Sunday we took her out for a ride. She still loved it, and everything was still the same except she weighs 40 pounds more than the last time she rode it and it was more work for me. Look how happy she looks with her matching sequin shirt she picked out for the ride. Such the fashionista!
Finale
And look who I found sitting in the dirt by the tree while I was trying to finish cleaning up the dinner dishes, move the laundry and finish this post. All this shopping has cut into my blogging time and now I am scrambling to finish this and everything else I have to do at night time. Ugh…. Some things never change!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

First I am utterly in awe that you can leave leave Target with only buying a coke and popcorn. It’s a good thing for my budget that the closest Target to us is at least 30 miles away. And I’m going to try your lunch. I’ve been on a tuna/hard-boiled egg on lettuce-for-lunch jag lately. Boring. But I’m with you (and a bit older) I’m trying to stay with lean proteins. Good luck with finding more energy. Sounds like keeping up with a busy girl such as Tiara would take a bit of energy. Have you tired B12 tablets?

My doctor did suggest I up my B12 and I have started that, so maybe that is helping too. I love my doctor because she combines Eastern and Western medicine by trying to incorporate natural supplements first and then goes to the prescriptions. Have a great weekend!

Love your lunch idea, we eat carb free around here, I have lost 30 lbs by cutting out carbs, sugars other than natural found in our fruits and veggies, and fats other than a few like the avocado oil or olive oil.
I love that Tt likes her bike, that is great and she is beautiful! So are you. I love your blog.

Thirty pounds, WOW, good for you! I try to eat healthy but it seems like a constant battle as I am sure you understand. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
