So, I have to say this weekend, which I was dreading, turned out to have some really surprising high points. Trinity and I took Tiara to Target and the market on Friday, two public places in one day, is really pushing it, and at both places, she actually walked, wasn’t in her wheelchair, and helped me push the cart and put the items in the cart. She was being such a good listener, I was pinching myself. I just kept thinking, “I can so do this, I just wish she acted like this all the time, this is awesome” I was feeling so happy and I kept telling her what a good job she was doing and she was really gloating in the praise. Every time I said “good work, TT” she would respond with one of her favorite phrases. “I’m trying. I’m trying!
Saturday, was a rather traumatic day for Lou and Tiara, which I will share with you in another post, probably tomorrow, as the story is rather lengthy.
Lou was back at work on Sunday and I hosted a family BBQ for my niece’s 8th birthday. Everything was going great even though I was sweating my butt off trying to get the ribs cooked, the potatoes roasted, the salad made and watch Tiara while attempting to keep the house clean. Apparently I didn’t think the whole thing through when I invited everyone for dinner and forgot Lou or my mother in law wouldn’t be around to help keep an eye on Tiara. By the time my family arrived, I shoved her off on them to watch.
First my nephew was in charge of following her around even though he weighs 100 pounds less than her, he has a strong personality and she was being good. After 45 minutes, he retired from his post and no one would step up to replace him, so I told everyone they had to share keeping an eye on her. It was like when there is a pool party and everyone thinks they are watching the swimming kids and someone almost drowns because no one is really watching. It was clear no one was watching her when she appeared outside after dinner and stood at the end of the table without a diaper, pants or a bra. Just a short shirt and a big smile. “Hi, Mom!” ” I jumped up so fast I almost fell over. Of course as always I couldn’t help but laugh hysterically. I know my laughing encourages her but it is really funny to see a naked teenager standing at the end of the table without a care in the world and have no idea how uncomfortable it makes everyone else.
I got her dressed and everyone finally left. On Sunday, another miracle occurred. I took Tiara to Fashion Island to meet Tabitha and Nana and Tiara decided to walk. She walked all the way from Bloomingdale’s to the Atrium without one problem. She then ate her lunch rather nicely for once and then walked all the way over to a store by the movie theaters. Once in the store, she sat on a chair listening to her ipod and singing. I mean I couldn’t believe it, she was being such a good listener, I just kept praising her, hoping this new attitude would last forever.
Well as all good things come to an end, so did Tiara’s good behavior. That night while out playing basketball, I noticed she had a poopy diaper, I couldn’t get her to come in the house to change it so I thought I would be rather tricky and said “Ok, Bye, I’m going in, you can stay out here all night with that dirty diaper!” I walked in, closed the door and pretended to lock it. I then went and moved a batch of laundry to the dryer and then went to the window to check on her. And what I saw was not what I was expecting. She was standing up in the trampoline without her diaper or pants and there laying next to her on the trampoline was the huge poop from her diaper. Beyond disgusting.
Once again I screamed and ran out there. This time I didn’t take a picture, because it was too gross.
I tried to get her out of the trampoline, but she refused so I started yelling to Trinity to bring me the wipes and the trash can. I cleaned up the mess, but she was being so defiant, it took me 30 minutes to coax her inside and into the shower. Once again I was steaming mad, she was profusely apologizing and I was wondering why her great behavior I had seen over the weekend had vanished without any notice. Please come back good behavior. It was such a let down. Just like when you lose 5 pounds and are feeling hottie tottie only to get on the scale the next day and see the 5 pounds were back. What the heck? How did that happen?
Hopefully like the weight, the good behavior will return soon. Have a great Wednesday !!!
P.S. I am doing something really dramatic on Friday, which I will surprise you with on Tuesday, and I am getting kinda nervous….
