Is the news really news anymore or just gossip?

Mar. 24, 2014

Every morning our family watches KTLA news while everyone is rushing around getting ready for the day.  I have never been a fan of the news because it is always so negative but since Lou loves watching the news I have adapted over the years.  I have always been a newspaper girl.

Last Sunday I was up before Lou and turned on KTLA news and couldn’t believe what I was hearing.  They were talking about Rihanna and Drake.  The story went something like this:  “It is official Rihanna and Drake are no longer casually dating but have become exclusive!  Rihanna is interested in spending as much time as possible with Drake, since he treats he so well.  Her previous boyfriend, Chris Brown, is off to jail soon, so this is good timing for Rihanna.”

Hmmm, I guess the National Enquirer, US and People are now running the television news.  But wait there is more.

Then they showed a picture of Miley Cyrus from her Twitter feed, showing off her new sad kitty Emoji tattoo on the inside of her lower lip.

I’m surprised this wasn’t breaking news?

As they went to commercial break, the promo for Monday’s show was something like: “You can dress your baby like a Kardashian!  Tomorrow we will preview all the latest baby fashions as designed by the Kardashian’s”  I was dumbfounded.  I thought I was being punked,  Is it April first?

Let’s think about this for a minute.  What do you imagine dressing your baby like a Kardashian would look like?  Ok, I had to do a web search and look.

The clothing line isn’t bad, but I love how they  found a way to accent this baby’s bootie.  At least it was spandex with a plunging neckline.

Ok, let’s move on.

I changed the channel to CNN and once Lou woke up I relived all the gory details for him.  I told Trinity and even she was horrified.  So much so that when she woke up first on Monday morning, she put on CNN instead of KTLA.  I could tell Lou was upset and was missing his funny peeps so I turned it back to KTLA, for weekdays only.

Now this Sunday we woke up and turned on KTLA by habit and guess what, it was the same stupid people from the prior Sunday.  As we sat watching, Lou looked over at me and said, “OMG, what is going on here?  Is that girl stupid or what?  Is this a joke?”

me:  “See, see this is how it was last Sunday, I told you it was crazy bad.”

This Sunday they were talking about spring and showing pictures of “spring” from a twitter feed.  They showed a picture of 2 parrots nestled together with 2 eggs next to them.  What did the female reporter say, are you ready?  ” Why are they showing a picture of two birds eating hard boiled eggs?”  Yep, she actually said that.  The male anchor looked over at her and said, “Well, I think the female may have laid those eggs?”

her:  “Really?  Oh, I don’t think so.  Do parrots lay eggs, can they just do that?”

Yes, we laughed hysterically and turned on CNN again.  Did you notice how I didn’t even start on the fact that all the females dress super inappropriate, the desks are messy, their phones and ipads are visible and today I even saw a smoothie on the desk. That is for another day.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

p.s.  the comment section is now working again, or so I think….

This is why I totally don’t watch the local news anymore and will admit, I too only watch the news if Kevin is around, because he is a CNN guy. Me , I get my news online or in the newspaper, too. But wow, sounded absolutely awful and can totally see why you had to switch it. And yay that the comments are working again!! 🙂 xoxo!!

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
