Yesterday I mentioned I got stung by a bee and I wasn’t really worried about the whole thing, but I am now. All night I itched my hand during my sleep. I woke up this morning and it was super swollen, red and still itching like crazy. I decided I must not have gotten all of the stinger out so I soaked it again this morning in super hot water. I took a pic to show you but between the swelling, veins, scars from TT and sunspots I just couldn’t bear to post it.
It seemed better for a while but now it is just after lunch time and the swelling is worse and it is itching like crazy. I just did a little web search and it appears that I am mildly allergic which isn’t dangerous, just annoying. Apparently since I can breathe fine, I don’t have a rapid pulse or racing heart, I am good to go. Apparently the next time I get stung I will have a 60% chance of having a more serious reaction. Looking forward to that, NOT.
This is so typical for me. Anytime I get stung, a wart burned (yes, I have warts, which I hate with a passion), an ingrown fingernail or even a bad hangnail, I get some type of infection or complication. I have been on antibiotics several times as an adult for infected tissue around my finger and the last time I had a wart burned it too got infected.
Funny side story: In high school I had a wart on the inside of my right palm. It was really big, about the size of an eraser on the tip of a pencil. I used to pick at it constantly and was always trying to hide it. We had the doctor try to burn it off, several times, but it refused to leave. It was pretty easy to ignore until a boy tried to hold my hand. They would feel it, pull their hand away, turn my hand over, look at it and ask “what is that?” The first time it ever happened I was a little dumbfounded and not sure what to say. I figured telling the super cute senior water polo player that I had a large wart on the inside of my hand might not be super appealing. I just stared at him and said nothing. He then said “Oh, is that a callus from holding the ballet bar?” I looked right at him and point blank lied to his face. “yes, it is.” From that moment on I always used that excuse. I have to admit I wasn’t known for dating the genius types.
Ok, back to the present, enough reminiscing.
Actually I need to leave, we have another house showing tonight so we get to get out of the house. I thought nobody bought houses before the holidays? I can’t make an sense out of this whole thing.
I am just keeping the faith that God has a plan for us.
Have a great day!

Totally cracked me up with the wart/callus story. Just know, I too wasn’t known for dating geniuses back in the day and sure I could have pulled a story like that over on one of my idiot high school boyfriends, too!! 🙂 xoxo!!

Tiffani,
I got stung by a bee last month, and it turns out I’m allergic. You need to really watch it. If the infection is heading up your arm, and towards your heart, you need to go to a doctor. Actually, you should go anyway. I ended up getting two horrible shots, which made me nauseous for two days, and a round of antibiotics to fight off the infection. My entire arm was red and swollen. Please do not wait as it only gets worse!!!
What a bummer!

Hahaha. The side story made me laugh. Take benedryl. It will have your hand better quick.

Oh Tiffani, what a hilarious story! Love the ballet bar excuse!!!
Last time I got a bee sting (I have ALWAYS had super itchy and swelling reactions), it was 4th of July and I was having a party and I took a benedryl and just had a few cocktails a my foot continued to swell (I love to walk barefoot in the grass so this has happened amny times). Everyone kept telling me to go to the ER, but I felt fine (alcohol was helping-NOT). Well, in the end it all went down the next day. So, don’t worry, swelling can just get bad and go away. BUT THE ITCH IS SO MISERABLE! One trick is to mix baking soda and water and make a “paste” like consistency. Then spread it on the affected area. This seems to draw out the toxins if you do it a few times a day!
SO glad you are back, and I hope you feel better soooon!

I can relate to that story. I ha warts growing up. (Was finally able to rid myself of them with persistent at home treatments). I found out they are probably hereditary as they are starting to show up on my kids hands. I wish I had thought of the ballet bar callus. 😉
