If you need help, ask your kid!

Nov. 21, 2012

As I have mentioned before I am a frustrated graphic designer.  I love fabulous logos, great looking brochures and am envious of anyone who is a whiz at photoshop/photoelements or any program that can help you make beautiful stuff.  I am getting better on Photoshop everyday but not good enough.  A week ago I had an idea.

What if I teach Trinity everything I know about Photoshop. I bet she will figure out the program really quick and start teaching me how to use it better.

Trinity, like most 10 year olds, knows how to use my phone better than I do.  She learned how to make Powerpoint presentations in school last year and now she makes them at home all the time.   A few nights ago she discovered how to do all this cool stuff with the fonts in Wordperfect and put them on her Powerpoint.  I knew she was ready for my plan.  So, last night as she was messing around on the computer I sat down with her and said “can I show you how to use Photoshop, I think you would love it?”

“Sure, Mom!”  I showed her how to make a new document and place an image from the web onto it.  I then showed her how to change the colors around, but explained I didn’t know how to manipulate the colors on an image I took from the web.  “Wow, Mom, I think you just go like this!”  Viola, the colors changed!  It only took her 2 minutes for her to figure it out and I have spent hours trying to accomplish the same thing.

This is what she made all by herself . Thinking it is a good start!

Within 10 minutes she was whizzing around Photoshop faster and better than I could ever dream of doing.  She loved it!  I knew or rather hoped she would get addicted and start making cute cards, and logos and help her Mommy!  Thinking my manipulative plan is working and she is learning a new skill.  Love this win/win situation.

Hummmm, what else can I teach her to do?

One more day until Turkey Day and my hubby finally has a day off!!!  Happy Thanksgiving in advance in case you are too busy to get to a computer on Thursday.  Be safe!

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
