I finally decorated….

Mar. 30, 2012

my easter wreath

my easter bunny decor
I have been decorating for the holidays for 19 years. I really wanted to skip decorating for Easter this year but my mom guilted me into it during our walk this morning.  I grew up in family where my mother ALWAYS went over the top decorating for every holiday.  My sister and I learned to follow suit.  We even had a successful holiday decorating business for a few years.  I used to get excited to decorate for every holiday.  Three weeks in advance I would put out my treasures and pride myself on having the best decorations on the block.  No one on my block even decorates so it wasn’t much of a competition but nevertheless I always had to over decorate.

Unfortunately now I could care less but my kids still care.  I think it is kinda sad that I have lost my enthusiasm but it is such a process.  First I have to dig through my hideously messy garage to find the correct storage bin with the decorations.  Then when I open it up, I realize I pretty much hate most of the decorations I already own.  Now here is the issue:

Do I put up decorations I don’t like and stare at them for a few weeks or do I buy new decorations which will cost me money I don’t have and then have to store them for the next year?  Always a quandary.

I would love to just get some new orchids and puts those out, but my kids want the bunnies and the wreath.  This year I decided before I even opened the box, I would not buy anything new.  I would just use what I already own.

Hence, the crazy bright pink wreath I made several years ago.  I actually still like it, but am not sure if it is actually an Easter themed wreath.  Oh well, what the heck, the color is right.  Next the bunny.  Usually I put that bunny inside on an already crowded surface and Tiara picks it up and carries it around the house all the time, driving me crazy.  This year, I just propped it up on an old pot so it sat off the ground higher and there you go.  I threw a few plastic eggs into the plants and viola, I am done.

If you celebrate Easter and haven’t yet decorated and have children under 18, sorry to say I am officially guilting you into decorating this weekend!

Happy Decorating…

Ohhhh, Okay! This weekend I will climb up into the attic and dig through the boxes.
Find my Easter treasure and deck the house in eggs and pastels!
Funny how even the big kids still want their decorations…. Thanx for the encouragement Tiff…
    Easter hugs to you,
    Chantelle

Your welcome…. Oh the attic, I only have to go up in the attic for the Christmas decorations. I keep the other holidays in the garage because I don’t have as much junk. Good Luck! Happy Easter…

OK I will find the decorations and next week I will decorate eggs with the kids and make funny bunny cookies. I really need to get on the ball since my two little ones are 3 and 4. Off to hunt down the Easter Bunny for the door.
    Have a great day Tiff,
    Char

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
