Well, I know one, and he is my nephew, Indiana. Indiana is always looking for a way to make money. He first started his own jewelry line for boys a few years back soon after my sister, his mom, started a jewelry business. He then moved on to making cards and selling them to friends and neighbors. He is a gifted artist and was waiting until he was old enough to start taking art classes with Adam Devito. Last year he started the classes and is totally hooked on technical art drawing. He has developed an amazing portfolio, to accompany the collection of books he has written and illustrated. He has been talking about getting his own Mac Computer for some time so her could start working with Photoshop and different drawing programs, but because money doesn’t grow on trees, he knew he had to figure out how to make enough money to buy his own computer.
Hence, the hat line. Six months ago, while sailing in a regatta he came up with the idea. As soon as his mom picked him up from sailing he pitched his idea to her, and being the successful entrepreneur she is, she immediately agreed to front him the money. They drove straight to the store bought 20 hats and then off to Micheal’s for fabric pens and he was in business. As of today, he has sold over 100 hats to people in the community and they are quite the rage at his elementary school, with the Moms and kids alike. As you know, I wear one of my Indy hats almost every day and I love them. Louie had Indy make him a Mercedes-Benz hat that he keeps in his closet and has never worn it. He has never worn it because Lou doesn’t wear hats but also because Lou is convinced Indy is going to be a famous artist, politician, designer, movie maker, we have no idea what he will do, but we all know it will be something big, someday. Therefore Lou has bought everything Indy has ever sold and is keeping the collection safe until the day he is famous and Lou has bragging rights to owning some of his original pieces designed when he was a child. So funny.
Oh, back to the present. Anyway, the cool thing about the hats is you can have him put anything on the hat you want. We recently had him design a Spider man hat for a little boy and he loved it. They are only $15 and as of yesterday he is live on the web. To see his collection, click here.
Once he gets his new computer he is going to develop his own website with my help, but truth be told within minutes of showing him the basics of WordPress he will know more than me. They offered him a job at the Genius bar when he was 8, just kidding, but not really. They told him to come back when he was 18 since apparently he knew how to do something on his Itouch they had never seen. That is so Indy for you. You never know what to expect, it is awesome.
So if you want an Indy original hat go online or call the HPD showroom (949)275-4803 and most likely my daughter Tabitha will answer the phone and you can tell her what you need.
Quick, hurry, order a hat so he can buy his computer and teach his Auntie T how to use Photoshop.
Have a great Wednesday!!!
