As you all know Tiara is very rough on everything, especially furniture and screens. At this exact moment I have three windows without screens, compliments of Tiara attempting to escape out of them and I have 3 broken chairs. Not to mention the drinking glasses, plates, picture frames, vases, end tables, televisions, dvr players and any other possible thing you can think of.
Tiara weighs about 200 pounds at this point but she thinks she is this cute little petite thing. Every time she goes to sit down she moves in at an angle and plops herself down with all her weight. She does everything with force. We currently have 3 broken chairs but I am not counting the 4 other we eventually had to throw away after they split, cracked and literally fell apart. I moved the captain’s chair with the broken arm to the end of the table where no one sits and Lou duct taped it back in place. Super classy! I sit on the wobbly ikea chair she broke, I just do it ever so carefully and the 3rd chair is sitting in the garage wasteland waiting for someone to fix it.
And now she broke a spring in my white leather couch. You know how much I love that super impractical white couch! Last night Lou sat down and sank practically to the ground. He looked at me and said “OMG, she broke the couch! Thank goodness we have that 7 year warranty!”
me: “Hmmm, I think the warranty was just for the leather. For stains, punctures, burns, etc.”
him: “No you told me it had a 7 year warranty, Tiffani.”
me: “Ok, I will check the paperwork tomorrow.” Knowing darn well I was totally right but didn’t want to belabor the point since I knew he was going to be angry.
I am sure you know what I am going to say at this point. Yes, I pulled out the paperwork and yes I was right, the warranty was on for the leather. The couch will only be 2 years old in November and I thought it was good quality from Macy’s but apparently I was wrong. Or the alternative theory is it was made for normal wear and tear, not TT terrorizing.
Guess we are going to be sitting a little closer to the ground from now on as we can’t afford a new couch.
As for my twitter chat yesterday, it was fun but we didn’t have much of a turnout because there was a server/technical issue which prevented people from logging on until the end. Oh well, it was a learning experience and I agreed to do it again in the future.

I lost track of how much my girls have broken or done damage her, too at this point. But you did put a smile on my face with this, because yes sadly I can so relate with my two terrors. And glad the Twitter party went so well, too!! 🙂 xoxo!!

Tiffani – I would check with the manufacture of the couch they might offer you assistance since the couch shouldn’t have broke in my opinion. Can’t hurt to try!

What bad luck – certainly worth calling the manufacturer – you never know!

I also don’t think the couch should have broken. I hope you had good luck with the manufacturer.

I’m right there with you. Deb has broken bed springs and furniture springs with her flop down maneuvers. Since the exterior of the sofa was still good my husband cut two pieces of plywood and nailed the to the frame from underneath. The box springs we had to replace. Deb is 230 ish.
