Today is my hubby’s last day of selling Mercedes-Benz vehicles. For the past 18 years (with the exception of a 6 month stint at a BMW dealership) Lou has been selling Mercedes-Benz cars in some capacity. He has been a salesman, a trainer and a manager for fourteen of the 18 years . Most everyone in our family drives a Mercedes (except me) including him, both my parents, his mother, my sister, my brother in law, three aunts and the list goes on.
But now everything is going to change because he has quit his job at Mercedes-Benz of Ontario and is going to start selling BMW’s at Crevier BMW in the Santa Ana Auto Mall, approximately 8 miles from our home.
As most of my loyal readers know, this past year has been really hard on our family for many different reasons. One of the main reasons is that Lou has been pretty absent from our family. He used to have every Friday and Saturday off and was a super involved parent until he started working in Ontario. Before he took that job we both agreed it would be worth the sacrifice away from the family as we were hoping this job could change our financial situation. I committed to let him be gone and try not make him feel guilty or beg him to come home for any reason for an entire year. I promised to support him as best I could for a year and then we would reassess the situation. This wasn’t always easy and I faltered at times but overall I kept to the bargain.
Well, the year has passed and things didn’t quite work out like we expected. Yes, he worked more hours than we could both ever imagine but the money didn’t match the time. As a result he gave his two weeks notice and today will be his final day working in Ontario. He is leaving this job with more knowledge, experience and confirmation of what he values in life, honesty integrity, family and good people.
After much looking he has decided to give up being a manager for a while and work his way up in a company that is family owned and has a great reputation. Hence as of Wednesday he will be working at Crevier BMW, the #1 BMW dealership on the West Coast, owned by the Penske Group.
The funny thing is that before he started selling Mercedes, we were both BMW people and looks like we will be BMW people once again.
So if this post isn’t a plug enough, please call him if you are in the market for a new or pre-owned BMW.

I am truly wishing Lou the best of luck at his new job and just hoping that he can be home a bit more with you and the girls. I truly can’t even imagine having my husband work the hours he had to work this past year and think you did a great job supporting him. Not sure I could have been as supportive and probably would have heard e complaining a wee bit more. But seriously tons of luck and good vibes being sent his way!! 🙂 xoxo!!

Congratulations to you both. This new course in Lou’s job career is a true blessing. My husband tried the same thing…and ended in the same result. Working soooo far away for a better job or higher paying job…just isn’t worth what it costs him and his family.
I wish Lou all the best at this new dealership. The car business world is a small world. He will come across people from his MB days for sure.
Love and hugs and prosperity to the Goff’s!

It feels like the new job is a blessing. I can’t wait to have him closer to home. You better than most understand the life as a wife of a car guy. xoxo

Your post makes me wish I could go buy a car from him. i was wondering what your husband did for a living. It sounded at times that like my husband he’s in the restaurant business.
I wish him all the luck in the world as he begins his new venture. I hope your quality family times improves, also.
Have a great day!

I imagine the restaurant business is just as demanding if not more than the car business. Thanks for the support!

Hey. I’m driving my dad’s car now. We got it after he passed away and my son took my Suburban. I’m thankful to have it and no car payment but it can’t last forever. So glad is close to home with a company he believes in. Maybe a BMW is in my future? Hugs.

Perfect, come visit me in Southern California, walk with me around Balboa Island, hang out at the beach and then drive all the way home in a new BMW. That should be your plan for next summer.xoxo
