Did you know Easter was next Sunday?

Mar. 22, 2013

You might think I am crazy, but how did Easter get here so quick?  I was walking through Target today with Tiara when I suddenly realized Easter was next Sunday and I didn’t have anything to put in the Easter baskets.  I know my kids are all older but they still except an Easter basket filled with goodies.  Never too old for a basket, at least in our family.  I think my Mom used to make my sister and I baskets until we were each married.  A little over the top, but we loved it.

Trinity at 3 years old on Easter morning

In the past I made the most elaborate baskets with bathing suits, sand toys, goggles, bubbles, nail polish and some candy, but this year I am so focused on Trinity’s birthday party I totally forgot about Easter.

This year, Tabitha has been planning this rather elaborate home party for Trinity with a pink carnival theme which requires me to make carnival games and decorate the house accordingly.  Sadly I used to love throwing a party like this, super up my alley but I don’t know what has happened to me, I am not excited but rather overwhelmed.

Ok, that is a lie, I do know what has happened to me, Tiara has made me feel old, tired and uninspired, plus when I throw a party I don’t like to worry about a budget.  Working with a budget sucks when I am being creative, I just want to buy what I want to buy to make the party perfect.  As you know I am naturally somewhat frugal so I wouldn’t go crazy but this whole carnival theme with multiple stations is going to require some money and time.  Neither of which I have in abundance but lack of money or time won’t stop me from throwing a fabulous 11th birthday party for my last child.  I started my pinterest board this week and am gathering ideas and have about 4 lists going.  Each night Tabitha, Trinity and I sit down with our lists and compare notes.

I have to say I LOVE PINTEREST for party themes.  I don’t have time to spend on Pinterest everyday but it has been really great for this party.  I think if I was getting married again I would spend most of my day on Pinterest obsessing on all the wonderful ideas.  Rather addicting and reminds me of all the “stuff” I need and want, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Here is what I have gathered so far.  Just imagine all the primary colors in varying shades of pink.  I love pink so I am excited about that part!

Lou was horrified when he heard what we were planning but then I explained that Trinity has been in a funk and she needs this.  The tween years are so hard emotionally, physically and on every level and planning this party has really given Tabitha and Trinity something to work on together which is really nice, so I am putting on my best Mommy hat and moving forward.  The party isn’t until April 5, but based on the amount of home crafting I will be doing for the decorations not to mention the homemade rock candy, which I may have to skip after watching a youtube video on it a few minutes ago.  Wow, it takes a week to make one stick of rock candy!  Ok, I am getting excited and fired up.  Of course you will be getting an earful on the process so get ready!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I love Pinterest! I wish they had had it when I was getting married and when my kids were little . I have basically given up Facebook for Pinterest. Good luck with the party planning and have a blessed Easter! Love, Robin

I don’t know if you use a crockpot, but there are some awesome crockpot recipes on Pinterest. They could make your life easier for dinner 🙂

I know, the Six Sisters are queens of the crock pot recipes but my family refuses to eat anything out a crock pot. They are all so spoiled and snobby, but great suggestion! xoxo tiffani

I thought the same thing! Easter just snuck up on us this year! I think it’s so sweet of Tabitha to plan a party for her little sis! How does Tiara do during family parties like that?

She normally gets overexcited and gets a little crazy so Trinity has requested her Dad take Tiara out to dinner and away from the house for the majority of the party….

Those look like great pins — but a lot of work. Can’t wait for the pictures. I used to do awesome creative parties when my oldest (19) was young — and the only child. Shark and train themes. It does take lots of time and energy. Pace yourself. And glad the girls are enjoying working together.

Thanks for reminding me to pace myself, not so good at that! xoxo tiffani

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
