Does your bed have a frame?

Jun. 18, 2013

I am sure almost 100% of my readers sleep on a bed which has a frame, but Lou, Tiara and I don’t.  The reason why?

About 4 years ago Tiara was having tons of tonic clonic and drop seizures.  She woke up many mornings on the floor and after her teeth kept chipping off we just couldn’t stand it anymore.  It was horrifying and scary.  Lou finally said “we have to get the beds as low to floor as possible.”  Since she alternates between both beds we took the frame off both the twin and king bed in our room.  It looked really weird but we only cared about keeping her safe.

Until yesterday I didn’t even realize how odd that must look to other people.  Sleeping with mattresses on the floor is just apart of our life.  Lou suggested we put the rails back on, so we did.  OMG, what a huge difference.  My bedroom actually looks semi-normal.  I spruced up the bedding after a trip to TJ Maxx and I have to say I am loving it.  Clearly it still isn’t a spa retreat but it looks like most bedrooms at this point.

One of my readers commented to me yesterday, “why am I in such a rush”?  I am in a rush to get everything done because I want this house cleaned out and perfect so the moment I sell I don’t have to sort through junk.  I want all that done now, since I have the time.  Well, I don’t really have the time but I never have extra time and since we have a great caretaker for Tiara at the moment I have to take advantage of every moment.  Plus, once I get in my working mode I need to forge ahead without taking a break or I will collapse.

My sister and I learned this crazy physical work ethic from our Mother.  When she has a project she works harder than you have ever seen.  When we were children she wallpapered our bedrooms, painted, sewed, did stain glass, made baskets, reupholstered furniture, cooked, cleaned, planted, anything you can think of she did it herself.

So we have both followed suit and work like crazy.  The house hit the MLS yesterday afternoon and I am keeping the faith.

Happy Tuesday!

xoxo tiffani

My mother sounds like you and your mother. She is dying to get her house on the market but she doesn’t dare till Joe and I leave. I’m such a Pig Pen. It is funny how when you get ready to sell a house you get it looking so good you wonder why am I trying to sell (or why didn’t I do this before?)

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
