In a panic

Feb. 26, 2013

tiffani goff at home

I woke up this morning at 4:45 am and was totally panicked.  I was still tired but knew I had to get up and get some stuff done or I would act like a crazy person all day.  I needed to start marking stuff off my list so I wouldn’t feel so worried.  Sorry, but you guys are going to be hearing about my manic preparations for New York all week.  My crazy need to control and organize every aspect of my life before I leave on Friday.

I hate to admit it but I almost started re-landscaping my backyard myself, in attempt to get my whole life in order before our vacation.  I realized what a psycho I was and talked myself out of starting any new project, or rather forbid myself from tackling anything that wasn’t necessary.  I actually talk to myself, this isn’t me exaggerating.   It’s an illness, but I was born with it, can’t help it.  Oh, back to why I got up so early.

I jumped out of bed, went to the computer and worked for 2 hours solid and only spent 5 minutes on my blog.  Serious miracle.

I enrolled Lou in traffic school and paid his traffic violation.  You probably think I am a codependent for doing this, but I have learned to accept what Lou is and is not good at.  If I choose to force him to complete these mundane and time consuming tasks himself it will cost us double because he will wait and wait until the fine goes up.  I have learned to just do it myself, it is easier than reminding him over and over again, plus I hate to  be a nag. Take a lesson ladies, you won’t regret.  Plus he knows that I hate going into the bank more than anything in the world, so he always does this for me.  Fair trade.

I also paid all the bills, which I dread and most importantly prepared my “Tiara packets”.  This was the task which I needed to finish to relieve my stress.  I made 3 packets, one for the house, one for my Mom and one for my Mother in Law.  Each packet has an Emergency Medical Release, a list of Tiara’s Medications, Tiara’s Daily schedule, a list of all her doctors and a brief medical summary with all her allergies and diagnoses.  Since I haven’t left her in a zillion years, I had to make all these documents from scratch but by 7am I was all done and felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.  I contemplated going back to bed with her at 10:00am but knew I had to keep going.

I made an appointment for the Genius Bar for my iphone which no longer rings.  I actually got in this morning and it was the morning my mother in law comes to sit with Tiara, so it was perfect.  Unfortunately they weren’t able to fix my phone, so I had to buy a replacement for $199.  UGH!!!   I contemplated sticking it out for another 10 months until my upgrade was due without a ringer or music but decided I would rather put myself more in debt than go without a ringer.  Better safe and poor, than sorry.  What if I missed an emergency call because I was being cheap, Lou would be so mad at me.  I knew if he was at the Apple Store with my phone, he would buy the replacement, so I did too.  Of course I now have to reload all my apps and blah, blah, blah but at least I still have time before we leave.

Tiara and I planned a huge shopping trip to Target for household supplies but we arrived later than normal and were short on time.  I was literally walking so fast I was out of breath at the check stand.  Tiara was rocking out to the theme song from Country Strong(Give in to me) on the ipad and I was singing along with her.  I love that song!  We were moving so fast with the wheelchair and the cart , I felt like people were jumping out of our way.  Luckily we made it to Trinity’s school in time to pick her up and to get her to gymnastics, without being late.  Once we got back home Tiara refused to get out of the car.  Nothing new there.  I unloaded everything and then sat there waiting for her to move, but she wouldn’t budge.  I took some pictures and we finally made a few videos.  She loves to make videos, so I have included them for your viewing pleasure.

I finally got her out of the car after 20 minutes after I promised she could watch herself on TV if she got out of the car.  Such the narcissist.   I figured out how to get our  youtube videos on her tv and she loves to watch them over and over again.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Thank you so much Sylvia. I am always surprised at how much Bethany and Tiara are alike. I guess it is the teenager/epilepsy thing!

Hahaha, Tiff. I think your “illness” is called being a Virgo. Seriously, though, when there’s so much you can’t control in your life, it’s important to be able to stay on top of the things you can control. It sounds like it was a productive, if exhausting day.

I actually thought of you when I was writing part of this post, knowing you would be thinking, “Oh she is such a Virgo!”

You have planned everything you could. Beyond that, it’s far more out of your hands than even you understand. If you could control anything, you would choose to control Tiara’s seizures but you can’t. So forgive the vain attempt to do more. Let go and relax for once. The Earth will continue to rotate on its axis, no matter how many or which of us is here or not.

If the Earth stops rotating while I am in New York and the planet is destroyed we will know it is because I went on vacation! 🙂

And I would eagerly blame you for it, but I’ll be too dead to know or care. 😉

Girl you crack me up. ” We were moving so fast with the wheelchair and the cart , I felt like people were jumping out of our way. ” Don’t know how you do it. ??? Glad you are getting ready for New York. You are going to have an awesome time. My 9 year old is a camp out in the car type too and has been from years. 🙂

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
