bag lady gets Prius…..

Well I received a very surprising gift for my anniversary, a new Prius!!!  I have gotten rather annoyingly “green” over the years and I have been begging Louie for this car.  Just so you know, my husband only likes me to drive Mercedes -Benz’s because they are so safe and he has either been selling them or been a manager at a Mercedes-Benz dealership for the past 18 years.  So basically, Mercedes-Benz pays for our life, so we tend to love them, plus they look so cool.  The thing is I don’t care about looking cool, I want to save money on gas and be environmentally conscious.

As for being environmentally responsible, I am not a huge freak, just a little freakish at this point.  I try to avoid using plastic bags for food storage, as much as possible.  My tupperware draw has grown to epic proportions.  When Trinity opens her lunch pail, it looks like a food storage party set up.  I yell at family members when they use a paper plate unnecessarily, and I walk around the house mumbling profanities to myself as I turn off all the lights everyone else has left on.  I have a large collection of re-useable bags in my trunk, on my hall tree and in my purse.  The other day I was at Trader Joe’s with Tabitha and was so excited to point out the cute clerk I have had my eye on for her.  We got in his check out lane and as I was packing my own groceries he realized I had run out of bags.  He went to grab a paper one and I said “wait, stop I have two more in my purse, I always have back-ups”.  He looked at me and smiled and said, ” I am not sure if I would admit that”.  Clearly Tabitha and the cute boy were having a mental communication about what a nerd I have turned into.  Who cares….

I am now a Prius driving, Mac using, blogging mommy and I love it.  Sounds like I should live in Nor Cal not the O.C……
