And today I start my 3 day cleanse!

May. 21, 2013

I know you have heard me complain about always being tired, especially lately and I am finally fed up!  I can’t take being tired anymore.  I have exhausted all my ideas of how to fix my constant fatigue and nothing has worked so far.

Last week I went in for another b12 shot last week, I got my thyroid medication adjusted, I switched out my anti-depressant for a different type, I cut back on sugar (not completely like I should, but better) and I continue to exercise and eat really healthy.

Nevertheless I still feel like crap and the doctor doesn’t have any explanation for my constant fatigue.  All weekend I researched how I can change my diet to try and help me get some energy back.  I truly believe we are what we eat and maybe I need to be one of those crazy health ladies in order to feel good.  I don’t want to be a fanatic but I am running out of options. I can’t keep taking naps with Tiara everyday!  Now that is depressing.

I contemplated giving up gluten, giving up all sugars, giving up dairy, a combination of all three and then I finally decided on Joe Cross’s Weekend Juice Cleanse which I found on Dr. Oz’s website.  I love Dr. Oz and trust his advice, so I decided this might be what I need?  I figure it can’t hurt at this point, well actually it could hurt.  Giving up my morning coffee could seriously destroy my day but I am going to give it a try.  I am also going to give up my wine, yes that is how desperate I am.  My two favorite things to ingest, coffee and wine and I am cutting them both out for at least 3 days.

Lord, give me strength, I am going to need it!

Anyways you basically drink 5 juices per day that you make at home and you are allowed to eat 1 meal each day which can only contain fruits and vegetables.

I like the idea of getting to chew something at least once a day.  The scary part, is the lunch drink sounds hideous because I hate bell peppers so I may have to leave those out?   I am also going to use my Vita-mix and blend the fruits and veggies like I do now instead of juicing them.  I think it is better for the body to get more fiber and I am not going to go out and buy a juicer when I own a fabulous Vita-mix.  I researched this aspect of the cleanse too and apparently lots of people do this.   I will just need to reduce the quantity of produce I use since I am consuming the whole vegetable/fruit and not just the juice.

If I feel great and have more energy after the cleanse I am then going to assess what I should continue to eat or rather what I won’t add back into my diet.  I know for sure I will keep away from any white sugars and flours but past those two things I am going to wait and see.

The great news is that I asked Tabitha if she wanted to join me and she agreed.  My drop dead gorgeous daughter eats like sh*t and I am thrilled she is going to give this a try.  I can only pray she sees great results and starts changing her eating habits.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

In an attempt to not send my body into instant revolt on day 1, I have eaten really good today and have avoided sugar, wheat and am going to skip my wine to prepare myself.  It is funny because when I am in the hospital I go for weeks without drinking and never miss it but the second I get home and back into my routine I have to have my wine!

Ok, Wish us luck, I will let you know tomorrow how day 1 went!

xoxo tiffani

Best of luck to you! My cleanse is – Keep the coffee and wine and cut out everything else. A girl has got to have her priorities. LOL

Lord give me strength is right. It probably would be harder for me to give up coffee now than the wine. I’m so exhausted too these days, a glass of wine knocks me out. (Though I love it.) Got too much to do to want to be in bed by 9. Will be interested how this goes. Glad you have company with Tabita. It actually sounds tasty to me.

After I read your and Chantelle’s comments this morning I drank my coffee because I thought I might not survive without it. Coffee is harder to give up than wine!

You crack me up. You’re exhausted and seemingly perplexed by it. Do the cleanse, launch the Vitamix, cut out sugar, run a marathon each weekend – and those are ALL GOOD THINGS, by the way, which will improve your mental and physical health.

But, honey, you’ve been the nearly sole caregiver of a medically fragile child for 14 years. You sleep on high alert that your child may not be breathing or is experiencing seizures. There is no deep slumber in your life and I don’t think I’ve ever read that you even slept a solid 8 hours.

You’re high energy naturally, it seems – which saves you. Thanks genetics, right? But, ultimately, you’re unlikely to feel as rested as most moms (not that we all feel that rested even with “normal” children).

See, what you just said is what everyone says to me all the time! I guess I just refuse to give in and I can’t stand it being exhausted. Glad I crack you up! xoxoo

You are so pro-active in everything you do!!! Glad to see you are taking care of you and found the time to make adjustments and figure out a strategy to feel better. Seriously Tif, you have more on your plate than most moms, its no wonder you are exhausted! Can’t wait to hear how it goes…you will probably loose weight which always makes a lady feel good. I may have to try it….could use an energy boost and minus 10 lbs.
Good Luck! (wish I an ounce of your will-power)

Oh you so could do it Sam! Hoping to lose the roll around my waste I accumulated from my last binge on Sprinkles cupcakes! xoxo

When I start feeling sluggish I take a shot of Liquid Iron called Floradix which you can get from Mothers Market in Costa Mesa. It was called Geritol in our parents era, remember that? It works and it doesn’t cause constipation like a lot of iron pills do. The cleanse is always a good thing too!

Thanks, I have seen that at Mother’s before, I will give it a try. Thanks!

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
