Tiara update: And now Dialysis…..

Apr. 06, 2013

image

I returned to the hospital this morning to find a sedated Tiara with a fever of 102.5.  The nurse took samples of blood, urine and saliva searching for a cause of the new fever but nothing has revealed itself yet.

As for the lungs, they look better but the kidneys have stopped cooperating.  They added a second medicine this morning to help pull fluid off her body but by 3 :00 p.m. today we hadn’t seen enough improvement in her urine output.  As a result they have decided to start her on dialysis.  The doctor just surgically implanted the port and we are waiting for them to start it momentarily.

The hope is we can pull out the extra fluid, extubate her tomorrow and hopefully she will only require a few more days of dialysis.  So that is the plan, let’s hope she follows it for once!

The party went great and Trinity had a ball so all is good on the home front, now we just need Tiara to speed up the recovery process.

xoxo tiffani

Oh Tiffani, I don’t know what to say except I’m so sorry. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I want to hear that Tiara’s spunkiness and sassiness have returned real soon! hang in there! I’m glad the party went well.

Tiffani, I finally had a few moments to check your blog and am so sorry. My grandfather had kidney failure towards the end of his life and remember him being on dialysis. He too had a port and I just remember it being a long drawn out process. I am truly so sorry Tiara has to go through any of this and saying extra prayers tonight that this will be short-lived and she will get better now very soon. Also, happy to hear that Trinity had a great party.

As I ride to start to celebrate Comedy for a Cure, I’m reminded why we fight so hard to help everyone who suffers from this horrible disease. We will be thinking of you, your family and of course, Tiara. So sorry you all have to suffer so much. Hopefully it’s a quick stint – but you know too well how that little angel of your likes to throw curve balls! Prayers are being intensified! XOXO

As I am up at night with a sick child (102.7 degrees) myself, I read this update of Tiara’s. Sorry she’s not further along but because her lungs look better, it’s another viral thing to go through.

I’m sure you’re both itching to get back home and I do hope tomorrow brings you news that’s placing that within your sights.

PS: I don’t know how you were able to focus on the party and pull that off but because your day, every single day, consists of major miraculous feats, I’m not totally shocked. Your family has no idea how lucky they are that you’re their mom.

I pray for improvement with Tiara’s health asap and for you to have the strength to deal with all that’s going on. You are both tough! More hugs from Texas! Stacie xo

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
