Saturday night was Lou’s work party and I spent the day getting everything in the house perfect and my outfit ready since I was going to be spending the night in Ontario. Whenever I leave the house overnight I am rather neurotic about making sure all laundry is done, everything is in it’s place and all my errands are done. It’s like wearing clean underwear in case you’re in a accident, I don’t want to be caught with a hideous house in the event something happened to me.
By 2:30p.m. I was starving and realized I hadn’t eaten lunch. I made myself a big turnkey panini just in case the food wasn’t fabulous at the party, I would have enough in my stomach to last me the rest of the night. Once I sat down to eat it, I saw Tiara walk into the kitchen and go towards the counter with the hot panini maker. Now I should have jumped up and grabbed her but like I said I was starving, so instead I yelled “don’t go near the panini maker, TT. IT’S HOT!” I saw her walk towards it on the counter and then she put her head down on the counter. I never saw her touch it or lean on it, but she seemed upset. I jumped up and asked her what was wrong. She started crying for her grandma.
She had been waiting all day for her grandma to arrive to babysit for the night, so I figured she was just tired of waiting. She had been crying off and on for her grandma all day. A few minutes later, she said to me “OWWW!” I looked at her arm and it seemed to have this long white spot on it. I put some ice on it which she immediately took off and then she went in her room to play. I didn’t really think about it again until 6:00 pm that night when Tabitha called me.
Tabitha: “Mom, something is really wrong with Tiara’s arm. I will send you a picture and tell me what to do with it.”
The picture arrived within minutes and I realized she had a huge burn on her arm. She must have put her arm on the panini maker. UGH!
Me: “Tabitha, it is a burn. Put Neosporin on it and make sure to keep it clean. Take care of TT for me, love.
Tabitha: ” Ok Mom. She is really happy and it doesn’t seem to be bothering her”. This is the pic she sent of TT right after this conversation.
At this point I was in Ontario getting ready for Lou’s work party. I went over to the dealership early to have a glass of wine and hang out before the party but the wine hadn’t arrived yet. Let’s just say that when it arrived 20 minutes late and was cases of Charles Shaw I wasn’t happy. Lou’s boss was even more upset than me, actually he was horrified. He got in his car and drove to the nearest store to buy much better wine. Such a sweet guy.
Let’s just say the food was even worse than the Charles Shaw wine so I had nothing to eat except CUPCAKES! The cupcakes were from a different caterer and the girl who made them was there passing them out and she was so sweet. I made friends with her and felt compelled to try all four types of cupcakes she had prepared. I walked back to my table with 4 cupcakes on my plate and proceeded to eat them all. No shame! Everyone around me was laughing but I didn’t care. As the party ended the cupcake lady offered to give me some to take home. Of course I couldn’t resist and took home 9 more.
That night I don’t think I slept a wink. Between the sugar from the cupcakes and the wine, I stared at the hotel ceiling all night. By the time I got out of bed in the morning I felt worse than I normally do while sleeping at home. I jumped in the car and was home before 9:30am. Once I got home I begged Tiara to take a nap with me, but of course she didn’t want to. No surprise there! After a snack I was washing Tiara’s hand and saw another huge burn on the inside of her wrist.
I was super shocked and got nervous. It looked really bad so I decided we better go to the walk in. I wasn’t sure if they were actual burns of some weird side effect from being allergic to the Augmentin last week.
Of course the doc at the walk in knows us and calls Tiara “his girl.” He checked out both her arms and declared Tiara had 2nd degree burns, WOW. He prescribed some prescription ointment to help prevent infection, since burns are easily infected. Oh good, just what we need. Funny enough the doctor said Tiara should be in terrible pain but she hasn’t complained once. That kid is a serious trooper.
So aside from a few other issues I can’t publicly declare, that was my amazing weekend.
FYI: Called the vet today and he ordered the extra blood work on Bailey but it hasn’t come back yet. Will keep you updated.
Happy Tuesday!

Oh no, how sad! I have to say that being burned is, by far the most painful injury ever, so I am glad that she did not register the pain! I had a second degree burn when Johnny was two and they gave me morphine for the pain at the hospital. It was more pain than having him with no epidural, LOL! That ointment they gave you is like a miracle cure though, keep putting it on and it will heal super quickly. xoxo

Hi Tiff!
I just wanted to say how much I admire you for doing all the work that it takes to leave the house for a night! You looked absolutely beautiful in your pic with Lou- LOVE THE HAIR SISTER! You are rocking it. And even if you didn’t sleep a wink (which I totally understand!), it was great for your marriage to be on Lou’s arm- I know hubbies are so proud of their ladies and IM SURE he was….
And you even did it with Tiara having those burns!!! You rocked it sister, you deserve another A++ for that one.

I agree with Marcy. Your hair looked great — no you looked great. Poor Tiara and her burn. She is a trooper. Glad that it wasn’t any worse than it was, you did everything you could, especially considering she didn’t complain or act like she was in severe pain. Poor baby.
