And her new place to color is?

May. 31, 2012

Tiara's wall art...

As you can see, Tiara has taken her art to a new canvas, my walls, my doors and my kitchen cabinets.  Last night when Lou came home I said “Hey, did you see the walls?  Look what she did!”  His response, ” So what, didn’t you do that same thing at 3 years old?”  Well, as a matter of fact I did and the reason he knows this is because it was one of the first times I can remember ever getting in trouble and it was rather devastating for me, so I have repeated the story several times.  Plus, he probably remembers the story because it was about me doing something wrong for once, and he always like to rub in my mistakes.

My mom had just wallpapered my bedroom with this wallpaper that had zoo animals in green, yellow and orange.  The weird thing was that not all of the animals were printed in color.   They outlined some in a color but left the inside white.  I guess it was to soften the look, who knows, all I know was that I thought it looked odd.  Of course, I had helped pick the paper, but my Mom always had the final say and she thought it was the best choice.  Well, once she got it up on the wall, the white animals really disturbed me.  I keep thinking I have got to make them match the other animals.  So I took matters into my own hands and got out my crayons.  I moved some furniture to the side, positioned my chair in a good spot and got to work coloring in all the white animals.  I can actually remember doing this and thinking, Oh this is going to be so much better.

As you can imagine, when my mom walked in to check on me, she nearly flew through the roof.  She went crazy!!!  That is when I received my first and only spanking I can ever remember.  As a side note, we were really poor and my mom had to save for months for that wallpaper and put it up herself.   In addition, Mr. Clean Magic Sponges didn’t exist 39 years ago.  Once I got my spanking, she made my sit on this really hard stupid yellow chair and stay in my room, grounded.  I was so mad.  I mean she is the one who picked the screwed up wallpaper, I was just trying to fix it.  How could I sleep in a room with wallpaper like that?  Seriously, Mom.  I was actually so mad at her I wanted to run away from home but I knew that if I stepped out my door, spanking number two would occur, so I stayed in my room.  I have always hated getting in trouble and breaking the rules, the problem was I thought I was doing a good deed, but she just didn’t see it that way.

After a while, she returned with her Comet, and set to work trying to clean off my art work. She has always been such an amazing cleaner and nearly got it all off.  We then repositioned a few key pieces of furniture to cover the few spots she couldn’t clean.  Oh well, lesson learned.  Believe me, I never colored on the walls again.  As for TT, I am sure she will color on the walls again later today, but armed with a magic sponge it is no big deal.

Who is tiffani?

Mom, Wife, author of Loving Tiara, retired home stager, and chronic volunteer. I laugh when I'm happy, nervous, or stressed, so basically, I'm always laughing, and you can hear me from down the block if the windows are open. I love to swear even though it isn't ladylike, and I'm brutally honest, but in a super nice way, or so I think? I tend to roll my eyes, and apparently, my face is very expressive because even when I don't open my mouth, everyone knows what I'm thinking. My hubby and I are homebodies; I'm obsessed with always doing the "right thing " and taking care of my skin. I love learning, am always trying to evolve as a human being, and am a bit of a perfectionist. Let's have some fun! xoxo tiffani
