So you may have noticed I didn’t have a post on Monday, Memorial Day and that is because I decided to stay computer free Saturday and Sunday and just enjoy the weekend. I spent my time gardening!
The great news is that Tiara made it through the weekend without a hospital visit. I took her to the pediatricians on Friday morning after I couldn’t get her a sick visit at Pulmonary clinic. Her temperature had spiked to 101.5 and I knew a pneumonia was brewing big time. She was coughing up this super thick disgusting green stuff that I could show you a picture of but I don’t want to gross you out first thing Tuesday morning after a long 3 day weekend.
I took the first morning appointment and it happened to be with a lady pediatrician we have never seen before. I brought the discharge papers from the last visit and the poor doctor looked totally stressed as she came in the exam Tiara. The first words out of her mouth were “Well, it looks like she has been very busy at the hospital the past few months.” I nodded my head in agreement and then she started asking questions.
I gave the doctor my assessment of Tiara’s current condition and I suggested we give her a shot of Rocephin followed by a 10 day course of oral antibiotics. Not surprising she followed my suggestion but we had to stay there for 2 hours because she kept checking her oxygen level and wanted us to wait after the shot of antibiotics. Oh I forgot to mention I put her back on oxygen because she kept dropping into the 80’s. She was 95 on the oxygen and I could tell this was not making the doctor feel comfortable but I wasn’t even open to discussing the option of an ER visit. I told her I could handle it and would just leave her on the oxygen.
We finally got home and Tiara slept most of the day off and on. By Saturday she was feeling pretty good and I managed to get some gardening done. I pulled out my front bed of mint that was growing wild and looks good for 4 weeks out of the year and then I have to cut it down and it looks horrible. I decided to replace a few of my herbs since I keep the herbs in front surrounded by regular perennials. I also started my veggie garden on the side of the house because I can never make my vegetable garden look pretty. It never ever looks like the ones you see in magazines, it is always a mish mash of uneven rows and messes. I have finally learned my lesson and except for the purple tomato plant in the front by the herbs all the other veggies are hidden on the side.
Truth be told when I wasn’t in the garden I was feeling really depressed about the weekend. Everyone was out and about or having BBQ’s while I had a pity party for myself stuck at home doing the same thing as always, hanging with TT while Lou worked. I received an invite to one BBQ but the thought of chasing Tiara around someone’s house without Lou around to co-team it with me was more than I could handle. Plus with the big dose of antibiotics comes constant diarrhea and changing her diaper at someone’s else house isn’t always my favorite. Everyone in my family turned me down for a BBQ except my Mother in law and her boyfriend so we at least had some celebration on Sunday night.
My Mom offered to take me to Roger’s Garden’s on Monday while my Dad watched Tiara so that was a big treat. Plus she bought me a bunch of plants because she likes me to have an instant garden whereas I like to wait until the plants have grown in a little bit and then add more. Either way it was so much fun to actually walk slowly around the garden store with my Mom, without Tiara or any complaining kids. Yay me!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Glad you took off most off the weekend too. As much as I love blogging, the computer can start to suck the life out of you. xoxo

You definitely have a green thumb and continue to be rewarded with a lush garden. Awesome!!!
Great news that Tiara was able to steer clear of the hospital. I think you may have just found the magic trick! At the first slight indication of a fever or infection, RUN her to the clinic for a massive shot of antibiotics with a script for 10 more days and keep her home on oxygen and resting.
Congrats for a comparatively successful weekend!

Your gardens are looking great! I love flowers too. I’ve never attempted to grow any veggies. I’m thinking I should try some tomato plants since everyone likes those at my house. Are they easy to grow? Have a fabulous week! Stacie xo
