First of all today was our yearly birthday celebration for my 2 nephews and one niece. Since they have been old enough to go on rides Lou has taken them every August to an amusement park or the fair for their combined birthday present. We started this tradition about 5 years ago and it has been going strong ever since. Lou is the most fun uncle in the world so he talks about the event all year long and they make plans upon plans upon plans. Well, because of his new job it appeared as if the tradition was at risk as he is never home. I stepped up to the plate and volunteered to be the funmaster for the day if my mother in law agreed to watch Tiara all day.
She did, so for the past 2 weeks we have been planning our adventure to the fair. Of course they have been harassing me telling me it would be impossible for me to be as much fun as Uncle Louie. Ok, fine, bring it on, I will be more fun than uncle Louie. Just you wait and see. Of course I was awake at 4am with Tiara and went back to sleep at 6:30 for an hour and was just getting myself organized and Tiara’s meds out when I received a text from both my sister and brother in law telling me “Uncle Louie always drops off donuts the morning of the fair and the kids keep looking out the front door.” Oh crap, really , I totally forgot and he forgot to remind me. “Let’s go girls!” Trinity, Tiara and I all jumped in the car with our pajamas on and drove to the donut store and had the donuts on their porch within 15 minutes.
I then decided to pull out our old Cartwheels wagon because Lou insisted I needed a wagon as a docking station for the kids and all their stuff. He wanted me to rent one at the fair but I hate doing things like that. I finally got it cleaned and loaded into my Prius by myself which was not an easy feat. The new scratches on my bumper can testify to the difficulty of the task. I picked them all up at noon, determined to have the best day ever. Well, we did! I pulled all 4 of them piled high in the wagon, totaling 250 pounds, everywhere. I went on every ride, won 3 stuffed animals for them at the water gun game and only had one panic attack on a ride that was spinning and I was held in with a harness. I felt so claustrophobic and I kept begging the operator to stop the ride and he ignored me. The kids were laughing hysterically, so they really got a kick out of it. Needless to say everyone was surprised that we stayed 6 hours in the blazing heat. They even said I may have been more fun than Uncle Louie, but that is pretty impossible so I think they were just being kind. Either way, I had so much fun and apparently I am very strong from manhandling Tiara, because pulling the wagon wasn’t even a problem for me. Six hours without hair pulling, nail scratching and kicking was sheer bliss despite the heat.
The second reason it was a great day today, was because Tiara was super happy spending the day with her Grandma and yesterday she received a special gift in the mail. One of my friends from high school, Char, who reads my blog decided to send a letter to Crayola about Tiara and her love of crayons and shared my post about the crayons with them. Well, last week, Crayola responded to her letter with a really heartfelt note thanking her sharing the story of Tiara and her love of crayons. They also said ” they are happy to learn Crayola Crayons play such an important part in Tiara’s day!” And in the package came, 10 new boxes of crayons. TT was so excited when she opened the box. She just kept saying “more, more, thank you Mom, thank you!” I explained that the crayons were a gift from Crayola because my friend wrote a letter about her. I don’t think she understood, but she smiled her big TT smile and said “Thank You Mom” And thank you Char and Crayola….
Have a wonderful weekend everyone….

Your niece and nephews will remember that day forever Tiff! I still remember my aunt taking me to the fabric store to buy me all the sewing supplies I would need so she could teach me her skills..that was 49 years ago!

LOVE IT! My boy has an opposition to doing art on paper for some resaon! He loves to draw on anything else, but we are trying to discourage that as it can sometimes be a little hard to clean up. Lucky nothing major so far! But I have been trying to find was of still encouraging him to draw and then I take a photo of his work afterwards and put in his book of masterpieces after that! So I can’t wait to try this idea out. Thanks for sharing.
