I am sure, like myself, almost every single one of you had a busy weekend. My weekend started on Thursday night with Trinity’s Christmas program at school. I went to watch while Louie stayed home and took care of Tiara. We let Trinity pick who she wants to attend her program and I was the lucky winner this year.
The program was really beautiful and totally got me in the Christmas spirit. Friday night I was hoping to take Trinity and a friend down to Balboa Island to watch the boat parade but I didn’t have a sitter for Tiara. Lou was supposed to get off early from work but I felt bad asking him to watch Tiara 2 nights in a row. He is the best Dad ever but watching Tiara really stresses him out. I mentioned it to him and he offered to watch her. Yay!
So the plan was, the second he got home from work we would leave and park off the island so I wouldn’t have to deal with traffic. We left the house at 4:30 even the parade doesn’t start until 6:30. Balboa Island is only about 5 miles from my house but I figured we could grab dinner, eat at my friends house and then walk around looking at the houses until the paraded started. When we got in the car I realized I was almost out of gas. The light was on and the computer said we only had 6 miles left. UGH! This is one of the problems with driving a hybrid. I never check the gas gauge and suddenly I realize, “ohhh no, I ‘m about to run out of gas”. I only have to fill up every 2 weeks, which is a serious blessing.
Because I was so stressed about getting a parking spot and I knew the gas station was literally across the street from where I was planning on parking I decided to just go for it.
As I pulled into the parking spot the computer said I had 0 miles left! Never in my entire life have I run out of gas nor have I pushed it that far. Oh well, there is always a first! It worked out because we got a parking spot and I made it to the gas station later that night without a problem. I am a chronic worrier when it comes to parking and traffic. This is genetic thing, my parents are the same way.
If someone invited me to concert or a baseball game my mind instantly goes to the parking lot and being stuck getting in and out of the arena. I could have an anxiety attack just thinking about it. You can add this to my list of driving anxieties which also includes driving over bridges.
Either way, I forced myself to bring Trinity and her friend down to Balboa Island despite my anxieties and we had the best time ever. The decorations were incredible, people were caroling, musicians were playing on the boardwalk, kids were selling cookies and hot coco on every corner, the boat parade was perfect and the whole night was completely magical.
And now it is Sunday and I am hanging around the house with Tiara. She did end up needing to start her antibiotics on Thursday and has been having lots of seizures, which is a bummer. She keeps waking up in the middle of the night and staying awake for 3 hours at a time. Needless to say, I have been really tired but I think she is getting better. The weird thing is that she has been more verbal even though she is having more seizures. Hmmm, go figure?
Anyways, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for Christmas, we are very excited over at the Goff house.
