Monday I woke up and decided I had to start spring cleaning because every drawer, closet and cabinet in our home was a disaster. Once I got Trinity off to school and Tiara situated. I started pulling everything in my room away from the wall. Because we don’t have carpets or any rugs dust seems to grab to the walls and behind the furniture. A couple of times a year I vacuum behind everything and wipe the walls down.
Today as I was pulling everything away I started thinking about painting the walls again. I know I wrote yesterday that I didn’t have the time, money or energy but at that exact moment I felt inspired. I had the paint in the storage shed and everything was already away from the wall, so why not? I should do it.
Then I received a phone. It was UCLA reminding me Tiara has her MRI on Tuesday morning at 7:30am, check in time, 5:30am. The paperwork said 6:00am check in which I had already mentally prepared for.
me: “5:30 am, I thought it was 6:00am”?
her: ” Sorry Mam, but we need her here 2 hours prior.”
Ohhhh, that means I will need to leave our house by 4:20am. Plus I have to drive in the dark, which is super stressful for me because all the head and tail lights have halos around them.
I then thought, maybe I shouldn’t paint? But then I thought , if I paint. I will exhaust myself, be able to fall asleep earlier and will be super happy because I finally got it done. It’s decided, I’m going for it.
I went out to the shed, got the white paint and dove in. From start to finish it only took me 4 hours, including clean up and as I sit here writing this my muscles are sore and I am wiped out, but oh I feel so much better. I love the white.
I have never painted any walls white except the hallway and my bathroom. I seriously love it. Don’t worry I will get in my splashes of color. I ordered a bunch of green and blue crystals to add to my chandelier and I can’t wait until they arrive. I think I am also going to paint my headboard either turquoise or Kelly green, super bold.
It is amazing how some physical labor and beautifying a space can lift my spirits immensely. And you know me, I already went to the Home Depot after I was done and bought more paint because I am going to dive into the baseboards, doors and crown molding. Can you believe it has already been almost a year since I did all this last year before putting our house on the market? Wow, time flies.
Wish me luck with TT at UCLA and pray I didn’t just lay in bed all night watching the clock, worrying about getting up at 4am. Oh, you know I did, oh well.
