I just dropped Trinity off at gymnastics and once again was shocked by how mean little girls can be. We were waiting for the class to start when a tiny little girl about 4 years old started doing hand stands against the pillar (Let’s call her girl A). Another girl about 6 years old joined in on another side (Girl B). They were laughing, giggling and having a great time until another girl (Girl X), clearly not a girl from their circle of friends attempted a head stand on another 3rd side of the pillar. She was too young or inexperienced to try the handstand so she was trying to balance on her head.
Girl A stopped and walked around to the other side and blatantly stared as Girl X attempt her headstand. She then walked 1 foot away and started making fun of Girl X and laughing at her even though she was literally standing next to her. I was shocked as I watched her say to Girl B:
“Look at this girl X, she can’t do a hand stand so she is trying to balance on her head.” She then imitated the move and laughed. Then Girl B left her side of the pillar and walked around to the other side and stared along with Girl A. Girl X kept trying the move and the other two just stood there staring at her with crappy looks on their faces.
The whole scene was so disgusting I just wanted to intervene and tell them what snotty brats they were but instead I just looked at Trinity and said: “I am so glad I’m not a child anymore. Girls are so mean.”
She just shook her head and said “You can go get your phone and come back Mom.” “Ok, I’ll be back in a bit.”
She knew it was driving me crazy watching the scene so I made a dash home for my forgotten cell phone. Once I got in the car I couldn’t stop thinking about why is it girls are born so much meaner than boys? I have never seen my nephews or any other little boys behave in such a caddy and mean manner. Boys just don’t seem to treat each other so poorly. They may get in fights and beat each other up but they seem to quickly make up and return to friends minutes later.
Girls hold grudges, turn other girls against one other, are drama queens and manipulative.
I hate how rude and conniving some little girls can be which is why from the time my girls started school, I warned them on a daily basis “girls can be mean, watch your back.”. I know my girls are far from perfect and I am sure they have had many mean girl moments themselves, but none in front of me because I won’t tolerate it. I just wish parents of girls would be a little more aware of how rude, caddy and downright mean they can be at times and correct the behavior before it is too late.
Oh well that is my rant for the day and I don’t think there is much anyone can go about mean girls. They have existed since the beginning of time, are main character in books and movies and even have a series of books written about how to deal with them. Yes, I read the book about mean girls when Tabitha was an adolescent and am thinking I better review the material right now so I can better help Trinity cope.
Have a wonderful day!
